10. Spanish Film Festival | Palace Barracks
The best of contemporary Spanish Cinema is hitting Brisbane when then the Spanish Film Festival tangos its way into town this May. 9. Check Out King Arthur Café
New Farm’s newest reigning monarch is King Arthur, the delightful new café from the crew behind South Brisbane’s Merriweather. The breakfast game is strong here, with a menu stuffed with seasonal, locally-sourced goodies and great coffee, so put this café on the top of your brunch list.

Kenmore’s stock continues to rise with the arrival of Pizzeria Violetta, Sichuan Bang Bang’s new Italian neighbour. Busting out authentic-o pizzas straight out of Naples (you can even sit back and watch the chefs throwing pizza dough old-school stylez before you eat) Pizzeria Violetta is easily one of Brisbane best new restaurants and well worth a visit this month.

If you missed phenomenal cabaret La Soiree last time it was in town, don’t be a dunce and make the same mistake twice. Fresh from a sold-out world tour, La Soiree promises a night of thrills, laughter, and good old-fashioned fun. You’ll be left gasping and keen for more.

4. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls at Heya Bar
New underground bar, Heya has quickly cemented itself as one of the coolest new Brisbane hangs for dranks, good times, and a street food menu straight outta Asia. Heya is also home to the now infamous cheeseburger spring roll, a bar snack so deliciously bad for you it’s kind of brilliant.
3. Eat Your Way Through The Bakery Lane Providore Markets
We love us some small batch produce and local artisans, and this new Brissie market is big on both. With some of our favourite little Brisbane businesses popping up stalls—Crust & Co., Bee One Third, Reverends Fine Coffee, and more—be sure to check out the very first Bakery Lane Providore Market before they become everyone’s weekend regular (this market is set to be help on the first Saturday of every month!).
