There’s A Gorgeous Japanese Festival Coming To West End

Come August, the West Village will be overcome with the sound of drums, the smell of karaage, and the bustle of hundreds of punters as West End’s newest precinct plays host to a ripping festival of everything Japanese.

This glorious festivity is helping to kickstart Brisbane’s Japan Week; 7 days of deep-seated, back-to-back appreciation for the country that brought us ring-pull cans, ramen and Rokusaburo Michiba. And we are forever grateful.

Expect a plethora of entertainments from origami folding, to Japanese drumming—even a bonsai garden—as well as dancers and performers to get you in the spirit.

On the snack front there’ll be tonnes of food stalls and bars to keep you sated with plentiful gyoza, bubble tea and karaage, as well as kickass bento and more yakitori than you can shake a stick at.

And how’s this for a saucy bonus: all online ticket sales automatically put you in the draw to win a return trip to Japan for two! Tickets are limited so click through and secure your date with glory ASAP.
