So Monday’s here again (boo) but that doesn’t mean the fun train—aka fun things to do in Brisbane—has to slow down anytime soon. Brisbane is here with all your weekday event needs. This week we’ve found everything from an intro to veganism night to a multicultural food festival in the heart of the CBD and a second-hand fashion event you need in your life.
See what we mean? Don’t put those metaphorical dancing shoes away quite yet, friends, here are 5 awesome things to do this week in Brisbane.
Tuesday 17th October
Veg Plant-Based Nutrition Night
Led by accredited dietician and nutritionist Kiah Paetz, the QUT Veg Plant-Based Nutrition Night is all about helping the vegan-curious learn how to balance their diet. The event, which kicks off at 6pm in room W201 on QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus, will cover all aspects of nutrition relating to the vegan diet as well as busting many of the myths surrounding it. The evening will end with attendees crafting their very own daily meal plan with Kiah’s help, meaning that you can walk out the door and straight into a world-friendly diet with the assurance that you’ve got your nutrition covered. But do you want to know the best part? It’s totally free. Sold! For more information, click here.
Wednesday 18th October
The Food Anthropology Market
Just when you thought Brisbane’s foodie festivals couldn’t get any better, they turn around and make a multicultural food festival. Enter The Food Anthropology, taking place on October 18 and 19 in King George Square. A one-of-a-kind food event, it will bring together all cultures in Brisbane, allowing you to eat your way through every exotic cuisine you’ve ever wanted to try—minus those exxy plane ticket prices. We’re talking hand crafted desserts, fresh produce direct from the farmer and stalls from Brisbane’s talented local artisans. And that’s all before we get to the musicians on hand to serenade you while you feast. If that isn’t enough to convince you, rumour has it that waffle royalty Sweet Wrapture will be attending the event so you can sink your teeth into a customised, hand-made waffle wrap. Oh mama. Bubbles & Beauties 2017
Fashionistas of Brisbane, this one’s for you. Bubbles & Beauties 2017 will see over 1500 new and pre-loved designer clothing, shoes, bags, menswear and accessories flood into Brisbane City Hall on October 18 for you to pick up your next wardrobe gem at outlet prices. The event will feature Rebecca Levingston, of ABC Radio fame, as MC and feature looks from Hannah from Never Ever Pay Retail, Emily from Corporate Catwalker and Brooke from Blonde Ambition. The ticket price will get you a glass of bubbly, access to some killer canapes and the ability to shop to your hearts content. Plus, a portion of sales go towards helping support people seeking employment in South-East Queensland. Shopping with a cause? Don’t mind if we do. For more information, click here.
