Whether you are searching for Santa, frantically shopping for last minute prezzies, or just looking to share the Christmas spirit through classic holiday pastimes, this list of things to do in Brisbane has events for any kind of Christmas prep.

The best bit? All these Brisbane events are totally free! Throw on your most fetching ugly Christmas jumper (read: linen tee) hat and go check out the top Christmas events this holiday season.

Visit South Bank’s Beautiful Christmas Village

Revel in the holiday cheer at South Bank’s annual Christmas Village. Every year, around this time coincidentally, South Bank Parklands gets overrun by holly, BULK tinsel, and a lorry load of fairy lights to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. This year's village will feature a gorgeous gift market for all your last minute Christmas shopping, there will be carols by twilight, a village train to guide you through the magical setting—even a beach cinema at Streets Beach showing all of your fave Chrissy classics. Stop by Stanley Street Plaza to see the big man in red himself, but be quick because The Village is only around for one week, from the 15th to the 23rd of December.

Catch All The Christmas Fireworks

There is nothing more festive or exciting than a firey fireworks display. Something about the ridiculous expense of it that really makes it feel worthwhile... Brisbane will be holding its annual Christmas Fireworks display each night from on South Bank from the 20 to the 23 of December. Cuddle up with a blanket (or an ice cold beverage—it is summer, after alll) and countdown to Christmas with an explosive celebration of green and red and sparkles!

Harmonise At The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols

Fans of indecent amounts of Christmas giddiness multiplied by a large crowd and expressed through singing carols at the top of your lungs sound like you? If you answered yes, you definitely have to check out the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols hosted at the Riverstage on December 9. Enjoy some of Australia’s most renowned singers belting out all the classic carols you know and love, but make sure you rock up early because it is a free event with only so many spots available.
