Repeat after us: just because the weekend is over doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Move over Netflix and chill, Brisbane is no stranger to the sneaky mid-week chance to get out of the house. This week in Brisbane we’ve found everything from Fortitude Valley’s biggest music festival to a Game Of Thrones trivia night to the 8th edition of the Korean Film Festival. See what we mean? Brisbane can’t stop and it won’t stop—and we are completely on board.

Ready to shake off the Monday blues? Here are 5 things happening in Brisbane this week you definitely shouldn’t miss.

BIGSOUND Festival

It’s back, Brisbane. BIGSOUND Festival is rolling into the Fortitude Valley for four whole days and nights of the best of Australia’s music. The festival was responsible for launching such internationally renowned names as Flume, Courtney Barnett and The Temper Trap (no biggie), so you can bet this year’s line-up is going to be killer. BIGSOUND features over 15 Fortitude Valley venues and more than 130 artists, all included in one handy dandy ticket. In other words, it’s set to be pretty dang epic. Well, what are you waiting for?

When: Tuesday 5th September–Friday 8th September
Where: Fortitude Valley

Art Jam At Cork & Chroma

West End staple Cork & Chroma have done it again with their upcoming Art Jam session. Think a blank canvas, a steady supply of wine and complete creative control with two experienced artists on hand to guide you if you get stuck. Unlike Cork & Chroma’s usual paint and sip sessions, Art Jam is all about painting what you want to paint—all while being serenaded by local musician Hailey Calvert. Cork & Chroma also supports BYO nibbles, so you could totally order yourself a pizza from nearby Julius Pizzeria before letting your creative spirit run free. We don’t know about you, but that sounds like a near perfect Wednesday evening.

When: Wednesday 6th September, 7:00pm–10:00pm
Where: Cork & Chroma

World Of Craft

What do you get when you merge the annual Brisbane Paper Craft Festival with the rest of our fair city’s craft-related festivals? Why the World Of Craft, taking place at Brisbane Showgrounds, of course. Combining the Paper Craft Festival and Mad Quilters Gathering & Gem and Bead Show with a variety of smaller exhibits on every type of craft imaginable, World Of Craft is basically your one stop shop for all things crafty. Alongside the variety of shopping available, you can also partake in the odd workshop or demonstration to help kick-start those creative ideas. Oh and did we mention the tickets will cost you little more than a tenner? You know what to do Brisbane.

When: Friday 8th September–Sunday 10th September
Where: Brisbane Showgrounds

Korean Film Festival Brisbane 2017

Celebrating its 8th epic year, the Korean Film Festival is back bigger and better than ever this weekend. Taking place Friday and Saturday, the Brisbane leg of the festival showcases eight of the most innovative films from South Korea, along with a retrospective from top Hallyuwood director, Jee-woon Kim. The team behind the festival emphasises the importance of film as an embodiment of culture and are incredibly keen to introduce Brisbane to the world of Korean Film. Let’s just say, we are so on board with that.

When: Friday 8th September–Sunday 10th September
Where: Event Cinemas Myer Centre

Game Of Thrones Trivia Night

If, like us, are still recovering from the GOT Finale (we’re considering cryogenically freezing ourselves until the final season comes out), why not try immersing yourself in Westeros once again with Plum Tucker's Game Of Thrones trivia night. Highlights of the night, apart from the obvious GOT-themed shenanigans, including an extensive meatball menu, BYO wine and the chance to win a highly coveted $50 Plum Tucker gift card. Of course, that’s not to discount the Littlefinger-esque smugness you’ll feel after showing Brisbane the extent of your GOT knowledge. Just remember the old adage: in the game of trivia, you win or you, uh, go home without stuffing yourself with meatballs.

When: Thursday 7th September, 5:30pm–9:00pm
Where: Plum Tucker
