Black Is The New White Production At QPAC
Coming at you straight from its sold-out premiere season at Sydney Theatre Company last year, Black Is The New White is a very Australian take on a classic tale. Two children from rival families, hot-shot lawyer Charlotte Gibson and edgy cellist Francis Smith were never meant to fall in love, let alone get engaged. Yet, that’s exactly what they did. There’s just one problem: Charlotte is the favourite daughter of Australia’s beloved Aboriginal politician and Francis is the son of his ardently conservative rival. Taking place over a good old fashioned Aussie Christmas dinner, tensions between the families come to a boil as Black Is The New White navigates race, gender, religion and status in modern Australia. Oh, and it’s all ridiculously funny. Black Is The New White is showing every night from February 1-17. For all the details, click here.
