Bigsound Music Festival has hit Brisbane and we are well and truly shook. Celebrating up-and-coming Australian artists this festival discovers the future of Australian music, setting the tone for the year to come. With only two days left and one ticket to buy you’d best get cracking!

The Bluebird Mechanicals

This new solo show will keep you on the edge of your seat as you are transported into a world of dioramas, taxidermy animals, wind-up toys, and the impending doom that climate change is evoking. Ok, so not a cheery one, but a thought-provoking piece that will have you questioning just how much is being ignored about the approaching disaster of climate change.

Arnie Double Feature

In this deeply political world I think we can all agree on one thing: we need more Arnold Schwarznegger double features in our lives! This Friday Metro Arts will be screening Predator and Terminator back-to-back in an evening specifically designed to satisfy your Arnie cravings. Gothic, Giallo, Gore: Masters of Italian Horror

Are you a fan of everything gore? Co-presented with Brisbane Festival, GOMA will be showcasing the works of Italian gothic masterminds of film: Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, and Dario Argento. This may be your only chance to watch these classic horrors in all their glory on the big screen, so check out their program and don’t miss out on this gruesome exhibit!

Fireworks and Movie in the Park

The hype has been real and we are finally here! Get ready for three weeks jam packed with theatre, music, dance, circus, opera, food, and fireworks! Our beloved Brisbane Festival is always one of our most anticipated events of the year, and this year’s line up has not disappointed us. Wizard Fest Brisbane

Jetty Fiesta

Flash Felines Annual Cat Show

Luckily the Flash Felines Annual Cat Show is happening this weekend – this is not a drill! This event is open to the general public and there will be cats galore.

For all of you dog people who are sick at thought of having to attend a cat show for your furry fix, fear not! It’s official: drink of the month at Eatons Hill Hotel is a classic Bulldog Gin and tonic, so you’ll obviously want to head down for it. Live music will kick off each Friday, with Kate Foxx + Brynny In The Club on 8 September and Trap & Base Night on 22 September. Grab the crew, head to the bar and then straight to the dance floor.
