Spring is officially here; time to put away that pumpkin soup and put on your best dancing shoes because there are plenty of opportunities to paint the town red this week in Brisbane. We've got everything from a production of Priscilla to a dance party entirely in the dark to enough cheese-themed events to leave your heart (and belly) all a-flutter. All you have to do is choose which one to go to (correct answer = all of them).

Ready to beat the mid-week blues? Here are 5 awesome things to do this week in Brisbane.

Art From The Margins

Presented as part of Brisbane Festival, in conjunction with Wesley Mission Queensland, Art From The Margins is back for another year of connecting artists living in isolation to the wider Brisbane community. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Art From The Margins continues a strong tradition of allowing artists living with adversity, mental health issues, disability and homelessness to express themselves through art. This year’s exhibition is totally free (score!) and will feature hundreds of local artists from Brisbane and beyond. A free art exhibition AND the chance to support our fellow Brisbanites? Sign us the heck up!

Priscilla: Queen Of The Floorshow

Guys, it’s time to don your best pair of heels and feather boa because Priscilla is here for a one night only bonanza of all things hilarious. In true Rocky Horror floor show style, Priscilla features three of Brisbane’s greatest drag queens bringing the Australian queer classic to life. Tickets only cost $30 and include a Corona on arrival so you can start the night off on the right foot. Oh, and did we mention the performance is presented as part of the Brisbane Pride Festival so you can bet that the evening is going to be fabulous AF. See you there, friends!

Wine & Cheese Appreciation Night

Raise your hand if you like cheese and think that wine is the nectar of the gods (guilty). Well, we’d like to introduce you to this little thing going down at Plum Tucker on Thursday called the Wine & Cheese Night. We know, we’re excited too! Imagine an extensive range of cheese, charcuterie, fruits, breads and sides ready for you to pick and choose as your heart desires. Wine is BYO for a $5 corkage fee or you could order yourself something nice from Plum Tucker’s generous vino and tinnies menu. Friends, it’s time to say goodbye to stressful dinner parties and hello to lush cheese-binging sessions with the squad. Thursday night plans have never looked better.

Dancing In The Dark

Love to dance but afraid of the judgement of everyone around you when you whip out the robot? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Dancing In The Dark might just be the solution to all your worries. This event literally turns the lights off and lets you fall in love with dancing without worrying about how you look or what other people think of you. The music selection ranges everywhere from swing to dance to the cheesiest hits of the top 40—if it has got a beat you can jam to, you can bet it’ll make an appearance on the night. Go on Brisbane, dance like nobody’s watching because this time they really aren’t.

Australian Cheese 101

Brisbane, you are killing it with the cheese-themed events this week and we are so on board. Thought up by the legends over at The Cheeseboard, the Australian Cheese 101 masterclass provides the opportunity to get up close and personal with all the different kinds of Australian cheese. The 90 minute session will see you being able to identify cheese like a pro, learning about the history of each kind and discovering why Australian cheese tastes the way it does. Vino is a must at an event like this and you can bet each of Australia’s finest cheeses comes paired with the perfect wine accompaniment. Okay, so we might have just described what heaven on earth looks like. Run, don’t walk.

Can’t get enough of cheese-themed events? You better hold on to your socks because Brisbane is getting a cheese festival!
