Cheese Platters At The Soul Pantry

It’s Saturday afternoon and all you really want is a good sunset and a cheese platter. That’s where The Soul Pantry comes in, providing a sundrenched backyard-style cheese board experience with all the perks of a lush café-cum-nursery. Cheese boards are courtesy of the legends over at The Cheeseboard, while BYO wine or beer is heartily encouraged. Now all that remains is deciding who’s going to foot the bill for the cheese feast you’re about to experience by playing a game of giant Jenga. Loser buys the next round, of course.

Scandinavian Festival 2017

Skip that weekend excursion to IKEA and head to the Scandinavian Festival 2017 instead for your weekly fix of Scandinavian culture. Perhaps best known for their minimalist, chic style and cosy concepts (looking at you hygge), there is so much more to Scandinavia than those glorious IKEA meatballs and it’s all coming to Brisbane this Saturday. The Scandinavian Festival combines the local clubs of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia for a celebration of all things Scandinavian. Think a feast of traditional food and drinks (cinnamon rolls included), an ABBA tribute from the QPAC choir, and stories of Viking life from Saga Vikings. Plus entry is only a gold coin, so you’ve got more pocket change to lash out on Scandinavian eats. Sign us the heck up!

Oktoberfest Street Party Brisbane

Can’t wait until October to celebrate Oktoberfest? The Bavarian Bier Café hears you and raises a street party in celebration of the opening weekend of Brisbane’s very own festival of all things beer-related. By day, the riverside terrace below the Bavarian Bier Café will be transformed into a main stage while the night will see the party taken inside for another round of beers. We’re talking four official beers, a pork knuckle championship, and the inaugural Oktoberfest parade. And that’s before we even get to the Dogs of Oktoberfest Costume contest; if the idea of a sausage dog wearing a wiener costume doesn’t make you want to immediately buy your tickets we don’t know what will. Just think of its little legs, guys.

You’ll want to head down Dalgety Public House this September and soak up the gin vibe. There’ll be ice-cold Bulldog G&T available at the bar all day, every day and that sounds pretty damn good to us.  Make sure you order up big on their new spring lunch food menu while you’re there. Drink responsibly.

Bulldog Gin Month At The Orion Hotel

It’s all about gin this September at Orion Hotel and we’ve got our eye on anything involving Bulldog Gin. Keep it classy with a G&T or mix it up with Tom Collins, Bulldog Martini or a zesty pink grapefruit twist on the classic. You know what to do.  Drink responsibly.

Strictly Streetwear Clothing Sale

First they housed Brisbane’s largest pre-loved clothing sale and now Bizzell’s Garage, in Paddington, is playing host to a streetwear-focused clothing sale perfect for finding your next wardrobe gem. The event, known as the Strictly Streetwear Clothing Sale, is the brainchild of two local entrepreneurs, allowing their fellow budding clothing sellers the chance to connect us with affordable yet unique clothing pieces. Brands rumoured to make an appearance include Tommy Bahama, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Levis and Timberland just to name a few. Prices will range from $5 to $100, so you can count on picking up your next go-to piece for a steal. We like the sound of that.

Spring Hill Baths Open Day

Spring is here, guys, which means it’s time to bust out that much-coveted bathing suit you’ve been holding onto since last summer. Why not show off your almost-summer bod at the Spring Hill Baths Open Day, taking place this Sunday. For one day only entrance fees are completely waived and the heritage-listed baths are decked out with music, inflatables and a sausage sizzle for when you get peckish. Heck, it might even beat the Bunnings sausage sizzle (controversial opinion, we know). Did anyone say cheeky Sunday arvo float surrounded by the colourful changing rooms of these 131-year-old baths? Music to our ears.

When: Sunday 17th September, 8:00am–5:00pm
