Five Fun Things To Do This Week In Brisbane

By Alex Topakas - 20 Nov 2017

With the oncoming of warmer weather there is no better way to practise being our active, out-and-about selves than to join in on the best five events happening this week in Brisbane. It's an eclectic week with everything from whisky tastings and Christmas markets to beer pong competitions, and we can't think of any better way to celebrate knock-offs than to get around these five Brisbane events this week.

Thank us later, guys!

Tuesday 21st November

The Jewels Of Japanese Whisky

It's an indisputable fact that whisky is one of the finer things in life, and all you dapper characters would do well to check out this super special event. This one-off tasting comes courtesy of the whisky mavens at the Gresham, and features a super-special appearance by the most coveted whisky in Japan: the Yamazaki Mizunara 18 year old. Only 5000 bottles of this glorious nectar exist worldwide, and even fewer have made it to Australian shores so this is pretty major. Other notable drops include Yamazaki Distillers' Reserve, 12 year old and the Hakushu Distillers' 18 year old. They'll also be serving up charcuterie boards courtesy of the snack legends at Popolo. Bottoms up, Brissie, this is gonna be one hell of a tasting!

Wednesday 22nd November

Trivia At Collective Kitchen

The kids at Collective Kitchen really know how to spruce up the midweek. Every Wednesday from 6.30pm, this bunch of bloody legends are offering up completely free trivia hosted by Trivia Mill, as well as some slamming prizes, and a super thrifty special on pizzas and fried chicken ribs from 4pm-6.30pm. Clear your diaries, rally the troops, and get down to Collective for some of the best midweek fun going.

We all have a party trick, and thanks to Brighty Thursdays at The Brightside any unappreciated beer pong talents are to be hidden no more! With free entry all night long, and a $200 grand prize up for grabs, we really can't think of a better way to spend our Thursday night. Festive Markets And Movie Night

What better way to ring in the festive season than with some merry and bright markets and your favourite Christmas movie? Swing by Morningside State School this Friday and get amongst the festive spirit. There'll be plenty of stalls for gift shopping, as well as ample feastings from the BBQ and food trucks, as well as carols, a visit from Santa, and even a saucy raffle. Once you're shopped out, get yourself a beer from the bar and sit back for a screening of a beloved Christmas movie. BYO picnic rugs and beanbags and we'll see you there!

Etsy Made Local Market

The words 'Real Life Etsy' are pretty freakin' dangerous. Bringing together some of Brisbane's best Etsy stallholders, Etsy comes to life at the Etsy Made Local Markets where really, no two items are the same. This rollicking market will trade across both Saturday and Sunday, and with such an abundance of handcrafted goods we recommend writing off the whole weekend and simply dedicating it to this. We promise you'll be able to nail down all your Christmas shopping and stock up on that warm fuzzy feeling that comes with supporting local artisans.
