Tuesday 13 February
The Blokes Project Performance
Presented by Flowstate—Brisbane’s brand new creative arts precinct in South Bank—in association with Supercell, The Blokes Project is creative dance taken next level. The lovechild of dance masters Matt Cornell and Joshua Thomson, The Blokes Project explores the truths, myths and stereotypes of what it means to be a man in Australia. The Blokes Project is based on the firsthand experience of the two artists growing up in outback Australia, combined with research drawn from truck yards, sheds and vehicles across the nation. Did we mention it's totally free? Don’t mind if we do. For all the details, click here.
Surf, Suds & Sumptuous
Brisbane brewing legends, Newstead Brewing Co. are back with their tastebud-tantalising seasonal dinners. Lovingly dubbed Surf, Suds & Sumptuous, these once-a-season feasts aim to showcase the best local produce in season in Queensland. The summer edition of the dinner revolves around what Queenslanders love to do best when the weather is steamy: munch on the finest seafood while downing an ice cold beer. This time, a ticket to Surf, Suds & Sumptuous will net you four mouth-watering dishes centred around local seafood, with each course expertly paired with one of Newstead Brewing Co’s selection of tipples. Valentine's Day At Aether Brewing
It’s Valentine’s Day, so obviously those of us who are blissfully unattached for the other 364 days of the year are just about ready to drown our cold, black hearts in pizza and Netflix. Luckily, Aether Brewing totally gets our feels and are rolling out a specialty IPA known as Black As Your Heart. Available for one night only, the tipple will be released to much fanfare on Wednesday, alongside the full line up of Aether Brewing’s much raved about menu. BrisAsia Film Screening Of Newton
Taking back its place as the festival darling of Brisbane’s collective eye, BrisAsia is rolling into town with a bang for its sixth year. Start your dive into all things BrisAsia with this film screening of Newton, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards Winner for Best Actor and Best Screenplay. Touted as a dark comedy that pits an idealist against a world where the world’s largest democracy isn’t as ideal as it seems, Newton sees our hero try to find order in the chaos. Thought-provoking, unashamedly hilarious and sharp as anything, Newton is one of those films you’ll be using to fuel dinner party conversations for months to come.
