Tuesday 17 April

Tea & Cheese Pairing Evening

We’ve all heard of the heavenly combo that is wine and cheese, but what about tea and cheese? Hey, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it, right? Shawty’s Espresso is pairing the unlikely duo this Tuesday night—and we have to admit, it's piqued our interest. Presented by Sarah from Emile & Solange and Kym, of The Steepery Tea Co. fame, this tasting session takes exploring the flavours of everyone’s favourite dairy product to a whole new level. During the evening, both Sarah and Kym will be on hand to guide you through five specially curated tea and cheese pairings, and will be on hand to answer all your qs on the smelly (and brwewd) stuff. Let’s be honest, they had us at cheese. For all the details, click here.

Paper Flowers Art Workshop At Wild Canary

Feeling the stress of everyday life? Take a step back and smell the roses with a workshop on creating gorgeous paper flowers at Wild Canary this Wednesday. Steeped in mindfulness, this workshop will take inspiration from Wild Canary’s lush nursery surroundings and invite you to zone out and focus on creating something beautiful from paper. Led by Brisbane-based artist Lesley Kendall (who just so happens to be the artist in residence at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens), the workshop is all about drawing artistic inspiration from the natural world around you. The ticket price will include guidance from an expert instructor, all materials and a mouth-watering morning tea from the Wild Canary team. Plus, you’ll get to go home with a bouquet of flowers crafted by your own two hands. Not too bad for a Wednesday morning, huh? For all the details, click here.

Friday 20 April

Mu’ooz Eritrean’s 10th Birthday Celebration

Mu’ooz Eritrean Restaurant & Catering has grown into a Brisbane staple for a very good reason. And now, it’s time to break out the bubbly because Mu’ooz is turning 10! A not-for-profit social enterprise, Mu’ooz is all about empowering and training African refugees through the transformative power of seriously good food. As the name suggests, Mu’ooz specialises in Eritrean cuisine, so expect plenty of rich, spicy stews and home-baked flatbread. In celebration of their 10th Birthday, Mu’ooz will be throwing a feast to remember. Think a three-course meal, including the all-important dessert, and drinks accompanied by traditional entertainment and some seriously inspirational speeches. For all the details, make sure you click here.

The Gr80’s Labyrinth Screening At Elizabeth Picture Theatre

Ah, the 80’s; full of big hair and even bigger movies starring David Bowie as everyone’s favourite goblin king. In celebration of this wonderous decade, the Elizabeth Picture Theatre is screening a curated selection of the decade’s best films. The next movie on the agenda? Why, Labyrinth, of course! On the night, the theatre will also be playing host to a costume competition and 80’s karaoke before the movie kicks off. And you bet there are prizes a-plenty to be won. Go on, give yourself this one. For all the details, click here.

Poof Doof Brisbane

Time to bust out those dancing shoes and LED boas, friends, because Melbourne’s favourite gay rave, Poof Doof, is heading to Brisbane for winter. Spanning three months of shenanigans, Poof Doof Brisbane is set to be everything we ever wanted and then some. Presented in collaboration with Precious and Oh Hello, Poof Doof will see the lights of Oh Hello turned low as the beat drops. Dress to impress, pop on some neon glow sticks and leave your inhibitions at the door as you prepare to shake what your mamma gave you in this epic celebration of all things fabulous. For all the details, click here.
