Before you panic about where September—and the majority of 2017—has gone just remember, with October comes a whole line-up of epic things to do in Brisbane to take your mind off of the fact that Christmas is in less than 13 weeks! That feels uncomfortably soon…

This weekend in Brisbane is a social smorgasbord of festivals, functions, and Oktoberfest-themed pig-outs that are here to see you through the spring transition, so take a breath and plan your weekend!

Caloundra Music Festival

This festival features the best of up and coming Australian artists in the beautiful setting of Kings Beach. Let the diverse line-up while building up the local economy at this iconic event. Enjoy some soul food along with the tunes from the food trucks and enjoy the sun, surf, and soul of Caloundra.

Sunset Spritz

Sunset Sprits is back at Customs House for spring! Sit back with a cocktail and enjoy a range of nibbles as you watch the sun set over the Brisbane River. This pop-up bar will be around for a while, with a gorgeous view of Kangaroo Point cliffs to kick off your weekend. Brisbane, you do spoil us!

Megan Washington and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra

Jazz singer come indie-pop/alt rock Australian icon Megan Washington will be performing in Brisbane this Thursday. Her award winning music will be accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to create a stunning collaboration of sound and style. They will be playing all of the songs from her new album plus a few favourites from her award winning albums of the past. This is not a show to be missed so grab your tickets quick!

Saturday 30 September

Shadow Lounge Riverfire

Shadow Lounge will be throwing the biggest Riverfire event of the year and you’re invited. For $119pp you will get 3 hours of mixed canapés and an open bar INCLUDING cocktails. Plus, you will get an amazing view of the fireworks show, allowing you to watch Riverfire in style. Book now, they are selling out quick!

Sunsuper Riverfire

Speak of the devil, we of course must give a mention to Riverfire 2017. Wrapping up Brisbane Festival with a literal bang, Riverfire will start out with entertainment followed by a fireworks display lasting over 20 minutes. Great vantage points are Victoria Bridge, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, and of course South Bank where Brisfest will be rocking their last hurrah for this year’s festival.

Kranski

October is nearly here, and iconic Brisbane bar Brewski is changing their name to Kranski for the weekend to celebrate! They are hooking up the taps to classic German beers for their version of Oktoberfest. Complete with sausage and schnitty on the menu this celebration of all that is German will be overflowing in freshly smoked kranski, playing quality German tunes all afternoon to get you in the Bavarian spirit!

Sunday 1 October

Listen Out

Back for another year, Australia’s top dance music event is landing in Brisbane this Sunday. With names like Duke Dumont, Pnau, and Mac Miller this Listen Out will be a rager. Taking place at The Sporting Fields in Victoria Park, make sure you book in tickets ASAP as they are selling out fast!

The Neverending Story Screenings

Looking for a spot of nostalgia to bring back quality mems this weekend? Metro Arts is all over it! This Sunday they will be screening The Neverending Story on the big screen. Yep, if you were blessed enough to grow up with this 80s classic you will either be flooded with fond childhood memories or triggered from the tragic swamp scene (you know what I’m talking about). Either way this one will get you right in the feels, and if you have no idea what I am talking abot get to Metro Arts this Sunday and educate yourself!

Cheese To Please Festival

Yep. An entire festival dedicated to cheese. From soft to hard, creamy to sharp, whatever cheese is your flavour you will be able to find at this godsend of a festival. I don’t think I even have to make a case for this one, but just in case you aren’t sold yet here are a few features. There will be craft beer, cider, wine and champagne parings, and live music to top off the day, but let’s be real, I will be there for the cheese and cheese alone. Fondue = life.

Spring Break Festival

The Normanby’s biggest event of the year is on this weekend and is giving us Brisbanites a little taste of the Spring Break life. They are bringing Cancun Mexico to us Sunday night stretching into the early hours of our sovereigns bday. There will be four stages with live bands and DJs, the grand final playing throughout the venue on the big screen, free entry, plus a VIP area for all of you who need that little bit extra.
