There is just oodles to do this weekend in Brisbane! Besides our usual array of farmer’s markets, foodie festivals, and chakra-aligning goodtimes there’s also an oddly prevalent abundance of wine-themed frivolities and long-ass luncheons to keep you primed. 

Thursday 28 June

Simon Johnson sale | Black Pearl Epicure

Afternoonified | Regatta

Kicking off from 4pm every Friday henceforth, afternoons in the Regatta’s courtyard is the only place to kick back after knocking off. With live music, share plates and pitchers of champagne, what more could you want? 

Soul Growers Long Lunch | Cha Cha Char

Wine merchant Darren Davis and winemaker Paul Heinicke present the Soul Growers Long Lunch this Friday in the private dining room at Cha Cha Char.  Starting at midday and going until 3pm, the lunch will feature three delicious courses and tastings of six wines. Tickets go for $120 a pop and are strictly limited so make sure you book ASAP so you don’t miss out!

for the love of pasta | Bucci

In celebration of Italy’s durum-wheat heartstrings, Bucci is hosting a glorious lunch to honour pasta in its many wondrous forms. Tickets are $60 per person and treat the holder to a glass of prosecco on arrival and a delectable meal of three different types of pasta and dessert.

Wanderlust 108 | Cultural Forecourt

Celebrating all things wellness, Wanderlust 108’s ‘mindful triathlon’ is being held this Saturday in the Cultural Forecourt on Brisbane’s Southbank.  Participants first run a 5km track, then stretch out in a 90 minute group yoga class, before being taken through a guided meditation. Joined by Swisse Wellness’s ‘Swisse Sanctuary’ Wanderlusters can sample Swiss superfoods in between activities and learn more about the Swisse credo.

Louis and the Ladies | Libertine

Legends and masters of the French Vietnamese cuisine, the folks at Libertine playing host to a delectable five-course share lunch featuring delicacies like coconut chilli sandcrab, chicken coleslaw, pork belly, green papaya salad, and sesame marinated chicken PLUS a glass of Louis Roederer champagne. Tickets are $59 so get in quick, ya hounds. 

Stones Corner Festival

Starting early at 10am and going well into the evening, the Stones Corner Festival will be alive and thriving this Sunday, promising beer, food and live tunes. Craft brews from the likes of James Squire, Little Creatures, Newstead Brewing, and Stone and Wood, as well as some of Brisbane’s favourite food trucks means this festival has the makings of an all out glorious Sunday sesh to end all Sunday sesh’s. 

Opening weekend | Red Hill Markets

Red Hill residents rejoice! Your very own market is finally coming this weekend! This Sunday from 6-12pm Fulcher Road will become the location of Brisbane’s newest farmer’s market, the Red Hill Markets, with everything from butchers, farmers and cheese makers, to fishmongers, bread artisans, and bakers all in one convenient location. Free entry and parking, so bring the fam. 

Game of Rhones | Lightspace 

This weekend heralds the return of Game of Rhones, an entire evening dedicated to sampling wines and dressing up like medieval fantasy people. Carve out a few hours from 1pm on Sunday for you and your bannermen to swing by Light Space in the valley for some quality tastings and a take-home Riedel Ouverture. Negroni Week | The Gresham

That’s right, a whole week of Negroni-centric glory in the name of a good cause  ($1 from all sales this week go to Beyond Blue). Like a dark, attractive stranger in the Panama suit, the charming Negroni is a flatline of cool. The hip kids at Gresham Bar are bringing the stoke with their own spin of this classic tipple with a Peach-infused Buffalo Trace Bourbon Boulivardier (sploosh). Their sister venues getting into a similar spirit, with Heya Bar whipping up a Negroni Slushie, and Popolo offering the classic Negroni for all the purists. 

Wednesday 3rd 

Craft beer and food journey | Newstead Brewing Co.

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland’s Hearts and Roses Event of 2015 is a craft beer and food journey, courtesy of Newstead Brewing Co. Six incredible craft beers are on offer, perfectly matched to a spectacular array of foodstuffs, as well as raffle prizes, an auction, and a guest speaker. Tickets are $95 and all profits go to providing essential services for people afflicted with cystic fibrosis. 

Voodoo Island | Jahh Tiger

Everyone's fave BBQ Jamaican bar and restaurant, Jahh Tiger are launching a spooky new Wednesday menu celebrating the mysterious side of Jamaican culture. Kicking off from 6pm every Wednesday, with weird food and a wonderful drinks menu including wings in four fantastic flavours for $1.50, things are going to get freaky.

Jazz and Shiraz | Griffith Uni Logan Campus

The only thing better than Shiraz, is Shiraz with a side of jazz. Crooners James Morrison and Kate Ceberano are taking over the Griffith Uni campus for the first ever Jazz and Shiraz festival, with your favourite food trucks parking and plenty of vino to see you through the afternoon.
