Strap on your fun-pants Brisbanites, because there are loads of things to see and do in our pretty city over the Queens Birthday long weekend. Thank you, Your Majesty! From prawns and fillies to live music and latex, we’ve got your long-weekend plans covered.

Thursday 4 June

Winn Lane Laneway Party

From 6pm till 9pm, Winn Lane will play host to a good old fashioned laneway party. Rug up and head out for an evening of late night shopping, live music, food and drink. It’s a chance to get social in the Valley and scoop up some cool new threads.

Friday 5 June

The Doughnut Bar Pop-Up | Queen Street Mall

After-work drinks are great, sure, but what about after-work doughnuts? Now we’re talking. Everyone’s favourite retro kombi, The Doughnut Bar, will be stocked to the hilt with delicious doughnuts from 6am till midnight this Friday, so get yourself down there for a tasty treat. Hand-made, freshly dipped treats like Snickers, Hershey half melt, Nutella Cheesecake and Mint Slice will be there waiting for you.

Saturday 6 June

Bakery Lane Providore Markets | Bakery Lane

Back for its second installment, the Bakery Lane Providore Markets are taking over the cute new Bakery Lane precinct. Think small-batch goodies and local artisans selling their wares, as well as a bake sale by Alphabet Cafe, coffee from Reverends, and a Lost Boys pop up stall.

Lifeline Bookfest | Brisbane Convention Centre

The bi-annual Lifeline Bookfest is on at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6 to 9 June. It’s free to get in, but you’ll need to bring some pretty big bags to fill with all the cool finds on offer. From comic books, travel guides and novels right through to old workout DVDs and vinyl records, Lifeline Bookfest is the place to be. Money raised at Bookfest events support the Lifeline services in QLD.

AAMI Stradbroke Day | Doomben Racecourse

Time to dig out your fascinator darl, because Saturday is AAMI Stradbroke Day at Doomben and it’s going to go off like a frog in a sock. Book a ticket in a marquee, like The Birdcage and Little Brisbane, take part in the Car Park Party or strut your stuff at Fashions on the Field. Gates open at 9:30am with the first race kicking off at 11:22am, so jump online for tickets.

Sunday 7 June

Caxton Street Festival

Queensland’s iconic street party, Caxton Street Festival, is back with a vengeance, celebrating its 21st year! With live music spread out across three outdoor stages, featuring The Beautiful Girls, Thelma Plum, Phil Jamieson of Grinspoon and many more, it’s the place to be for a food-fuelled, pop-up bar celebration of the very best kind. Some of our favourite bars will be serving up food, drinks and fun times including Lefty's Old Time Music Hall, The Statler & Waldorf and Brewski. Tickets are just $29+bf and available to pre-purchase online.

Newstead Roots Festival | The Triffid

Hosted at Newstead’s uber-cool venue, The Triffid, the inaugural Roots Festival is an extravaganza of east coast roots music hosted by Sarah Howells. Soak in live music from the likes of Oka, Kingfisha, Chocolate Strings, Sahara Beck, Karl S Williams, Starboard Cannons, Danni Carr and Andrew Morris. Best of all, it’s totally FREE!

Soho Sunday | The Fox

It’s your chance to be royal at Dandy’s Rooftop bar at The Fox this Sunday. The mother of all Soho Sunday’s is going down from 12pm, offering up four floors of entertainment including live music from a huge DJ lineup as well as Adil Memon. There’s going to be a free Photo Booth, Pimms Cocktails and a traditional Sunday Roast to fuel you for the whole day. Yes, please.

Rocky Horror Picture Show | The Scratch

Head directly to The Scratch in Milton for an 8pm screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The film is being show at the back of the bar with free entry for all—BYO popcorn. Spend a night with Meat Loaf and Dr Frank-N-Furter, celebrating the fact you don’t have to go to work the next day.
