This weekend in Brisbane is set to be an absolute cracker! From art exhibitions, first birthday celebrations, warehouse sales, and fun-runs, to country festivals, Latin dance classes, and Eat Street Sunday brunch, there are plenty of things to do this weekend in Brisbane.

Thursday 14th

The Promised Land by Michael Parekowhai | Gallery of Modern Art

In case you missed the beginning of Michael Parekowhai’s exhibition at GOMA, don’t fret. Michael’s exhibition will run until 21st June, giving all you Brisbane art enthusiasts ample time (and zero excuses) to drop by and check it out. Don’t miss it!

Pepperjack Wine & Steak Dinner | Port Office Hotel

Join Richard Mattner from Pepperjack for a four-course dinner, incorporating five wines that make Pepperjack Australia’s favourite shiraz. A wine dinner not to be missed! 

Greaser Turns One | Greaser Bar

It’s one been heck of a year since Greaser unleashed its rebellious vibe on Brunswick Street. This cheeky underground hideout has been dishing up Brisbane’s most authentic, gob-smackingly awesome cheeseburgers, whiskey apples, and killer rock ’n’ roll for that whole time, and it’s time to celebrate! Join the crew at Greaser this Thursday night from 8pm, and get amongst the birthday festivities.

Libertine Parfumerie Warehouse Pop-Up Sale | Doggett Street, New Farm

When it comes to warehouse sales, we’re pretty huge fans (um, can you blame us?) and this weekend sees the Libertine warehouse sale pop-up open to the public for a three-day perfume frenzy! Specialising in hard-to-find brands and the most olfactory pleasing scents, there will be a minimum of 50% off everything. Be there.

Fashions on the Field Runway Show | Indooroopilly Shopping Centre

Racing season is in full swing in Brisbane! The horses are one thing but finding the perfect outfit for watching the ponies is a serious business. Indooroopilly has all the farshun inspo to get you through this year's specially themed carnivals with a series of parades showcasing great race wear fashion available at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. Hosted by local stylist Laura Churchill and Great South East host, Liz Cantor, you could snag yourself complimentary tickets to the main race days throughout the carnival and a $1,000 gift card and shopping experience with Laura Churchill. The parades are on Thursday (11am, 12:30pm, 6:30pm) and Friday (11am and 12:30pm) an Level 2 of the shopping centre.  

Friday 15th

Cloudy Bay Tasting | Saké 

The Cloudy Bay Seasonal Tasting Trail has hit Saké Restaurant & Bar for the month of May. Round up your pals and indulge in an afternoon of sparkling and oysters by the river. By purchasing a bottle of Cloudy Bay Pelorus NV for $65, you’ll receive a ½ dozen complimentary Saké style oysters. The offer’s available Monday to Friday from 4pm til 7pm so get your oyster-loving self down there.

Saturday 16th

Illumi Run | Brisbane RNA Showgrounds

Brisbanites, this is one 5km run that actually puts the fun in ‘fun run’! The Brisbane Illumi run—being held this Saturday—is set to light up the night.  Participants will be splattered with neon paint as they move through each zone and with live DJ’s pumping the tunes, how could this not the best fun run you’ll ever do? Most importantly though, the Illumi run is raising much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation. Register here!

Sunday 17th

Hampton Festival 2015 | Chapman Park, Hampton

Back for 2015, this year’s Hampton Festival promises to be another great day out. From cooking demonstrations, to local food and wine, and gourmet marketplaces, there is something for everyone. If you’re in the mood for the full country experience, jump on board the City to Country tour with Dominique Rizzo, which kicks off with breakfast at Dominique’s Putia restaurant, before the Hampton express coach departs for Hampton. Tickets for the tour are $165 and can be purchased online. Be quick!

Million Paws Walk | South Bank

This Sunday, more than 20,000 people will walk—with their furry friends, of course—in Queensland to show their support for animals in need. Million Paws Walk is a super fun day for the whole family, with live entertainment, stalls, delicious food, competitions, giveaways, and a whole lot more!

Sunday Brunch At Eat Street | Eat Street

Sunday brunch at Eat Street Markets—need we say more? With food trucks like Doughnut Bar, Biarra Chocolate, and stacks of others (seriously, food lovers get here), spending a Sunday at Eat Street is the perfect end to the weekend. 10am to 3pm every Sunday, be there!

Monday 18th

6 Week Latin Starter Course | Rio Rhythmics

Ever wanted to dance Salsa like a Cuban local? Well now you can! In just six week, fast-track your way to the dance floor with Rio Rhythmics new Latin starter course, kicking off this Monday. During the course, you will learn Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Samba, Zouk, Lambada, and Forró, all while having fun (and getting fit!). Whatchya waiting for?

PigOut Pop-Up! | Hive Café

Brisbanites, it’s time to get some pork on your fork! For two weeks only, PigOut pop-up will take over the kitchen of Hive Café James Street and celebrate Australian pork, with a pork dedicated menu (erm, yum!) that changes daily. Kicking off with a burst, there’s a hearty breakfast event featuring the likes of the infamous Fat Elvis Donut, the pop-up will run until 29th May. Seriously, you’ll kick yourself if you miss this.

Kaelser Wine Dinner | Aria Restaurant

Reid Bosward and Ian Trinkle are proud to be hosting a Kaesler wine dinner at Aria Brisbane this Monday. The evening will consist of a four-course dinner paired with Kaesler wines, Tickets are $160 per person and Includes canapés, four courses with paired wines, coffee, tea and petit fours. Bookings are essential.

Wednesday 20th

Piedmont & Lombardy Italian Wine Dinner | Il Locale

If you love Italian as much as we do, then you better move your toosh along to Il Locale’s Italian wine dinner. Guests will be spoilt with a divine five-course dinner with matched Italian wines, all for $110 per person. The first Italian dinner was a sell out, so be quick and book your ticket.

Whiskey Dinner | The Morrison Hotel

Whiskey lovers, you’re in for a treat! Thursday 21st May sees The Naked Whisky Bar and South Trade join forces to bring to The Morrison Hotel five exquisite progressive Bruichladdich distillery whiskies, matched with a six-course dinner. Tickets are $75 per person, and bookings are essential. Don’t miss out!

Calexico Teams Up With Jeans For Genes | Calexico Boutique

It’s Denim Month for all of May at Calexico on James Street, and the team has joined forces with Jeans for Genes to host a denim workshop on Friday 22nd May, so make sure you stop by, grab yourself a pair of jeans, and join in the fun.
