Carseldine Markets 1st Birthday | Carseldine
Booyah! The Carseldine Markets are turning one! It’s their party this weekend and they’ll give out free cake if they want to. The first 100 visitors from 9.30 am will score complimentary cake, but don’t worry if you miss out—there will be live entertainment, a merry-go-round and special market offers to get you through. Plus, a petting zoo! So if you miss out on cake you can drown your sorrows by cuddling a baby goat.

Disney on Ice presents Dare to Dream | Brisbane Entertainment Centre
If your inner child still isn’t satisfied after face painting and petting animals at the Carseldine Markets, then we’ve got you covered. Like all good foodies, if someone were to ask the team behind Downey Park Food Trucks, “Would you like to supersize that?” their answer would be a resounding “HELL YEAH!” And supersize they have indeed. This weekend is set to be the biggest DPFT Sunday yet, with a whole bunch of exciting new food trucks joining your old favourites. Sunday roasts are out, but Sunday pizzas are very in. If you’re looking to spice up your life with some Spanish spark, look no further! The ‘Dro are serving up a week-long food event with everyone’s favourite Spaniard, Miguel Maestre at the centre. He will be showing off his culinary skills with cooking demonstrations (and book signings) on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 July, and there will be other demos, tastings from Station Road restaurants and in-centre retailers, and live entertainment throughout the rest of the week.

Album release | The Jungle Giants
Hometown heroes The Jungle Giants are back with their second record! Hot off the back of a series of sell-out tour dates, the Brisbane four-piece are thrilled to announce their sophomore album, Speakerzoid, will be out on Friday August 7. “What’s a Speakerzoid?” you may ask. The result of misheard song lyrics courtesy of a friend of the band while listening to Sonic Youth’s ‘Teenage Riot’, apparently. The band loved it so much—bam—it became the album title. The Jungle Giants will take to the road for a national tour throughout September and October. Pencil in Saturday October 3 for their gig at The Triffid in Brisbane.
