This weekend in Brisbane is flying off the chain. Our scintillating metropolis has been hitting the gym, chugging a few protein shakes, and is suitably pumped up and charged for what promises to be one of the most jam-packed weekends of 2015 thus far. We’ve got street festivals, outdoor dinners, American spirit, and a bridge’s birthday. Fill the tank with fuel and get amongst it.

Thursday July 2
Taste of Winter with Miguel Maestre | Indooroopilly Shopping Centre
Celebrity chef Miguel Maestre is shaking up Indooroopilly. Kicking off the weekend and going until next Wednesday July 8, Maestre will be hosting cooking demonstrations, tastings and book signings to showcase Spanish cuisine and bring punters the taste of winter. There’ll also be live entertainment and activities for the kiddies, make sure you check it out.

Friday July 3
Sandwiches & Ciders | Kiosk
This Friday, forego the usual after-work haunt and spend your weekly knock-off at Kiosk. They’ve got a slammin’ sanger on offer with apple and fennel slaw, cucumber pickle, and Swiss cheese. Couple it with a Somersby cider and you’ve got the perfect kick-start to the glorious weekend, and only 16 clam.

Finders Keepers Autumn/Winter Market | The Old Museum
Our favourite design market is back for their rollicking winter installment. Finders Keepers showcases the best of Brisbane design, art, food and music across an exuberant weekend of shopping, perfect for a day out with the family.

Kids Pizza-Making Masterclass | Vapiano
Reaching out a lifeline to any parents tapped of holiday activities; Vapiano’s at Garden City are hosting a kids pizza-making class. Bakery Lane Dinner Under the Stars | Bakery Lane

4th of July Party | Miss Kay’s
USA! USA! What better way to celebrate a holiday that’s got nothing to do with Australia than play beer pong and eat burgers! Miss Kay’s are putting on a do for the 4th of July and we’re all invited! Throw on your hottest star-spangled outfit and enter the best USA-themed dress competition, get amongst the eating competition and dance the night away to your favourite motown and American party hits. There are limited first-release tickets for a $40 two-hour unlimited sliders and all-you-can-drink package. What are you waiting for?!

Teneriffe Festival | Vernon Terrace
Judging by the itinerary it looks as if the stops have been pulled out for the sixth installment of the Teneriffe Festival this weekend. Punters can kick back to the melodies of local six-piece, Cheap Fakes, as they take over the floating Mirvac River Stage, or pick up some fresh wheels of dairy joy from the artisans of the Brisbane Cheese Market. Let’s not forget a visit to the Pork, Fork and Cork Festival in the London Laneway, a flutter at the piggie steeplechase, and a burn around the block with some local history buffs to get to know the stories of your favourite precinct. Festival of the Free | Buffalo Bar
Any excuse for a party right? Let loose your inhibitions and release your dormant patriotism at Buffalo Bar’s Festival of the Free. Starting at midday, and rumpusing well into the night, take a perch in the Outdoor Beer Garden or Han’s Whiskey Lounge and get loud and crazy in honour of the land of the freedom to marry whoever you want in 52 states. Monarchists not invited.

4th of July | Brooklyn Standard
Starting from 8pm, the lads from Mad Mariachi Mondays are coming down to kick off Brooklyn Standard’s 4th of July festivities with some mariachi-style Americana. Latecomers will be treated to the music styling of Scotch and Cider as they crank out old-school American hits until late. Don’t forget to grab dinner from the NYC style hotdog van parked in the laneway.

4th of July Tailgate Party | Greaser
Swing by Greaser’s Independence Day collab with Ol’ Garage and treat your tastebuds and eardrums to a feasting. Down the laneway, Greaser is popping up with a bona fide BBQ, a bar of American tap beers, as well as two music stages so you can make Uncle Sam proud, rager.

Independence Day | Mighty Mighty
Down the road in Fortitude Valley, southern cowboys Mighty Mighty are celebrating Independence Day too! With a specially-themed menu of American classic such as meatloaf, ribs, and warrrrrmm apple pie, they’re going all out to celebrate the mighty freedom-chasers who pioneered the land of the free and home of the brave. Join them for a feast that will, in their words, “have you singing praises to Lady Liberty in all her glory”.

Sunday July 5
The Story Bridge is 75! | Story Bridge
This weekend heralds the 75th birthday of Brisbane’s beloved Story Bridge! The hype over celebrations has been brewing for weeks and now that it’s finally here we can expect a thumping festival with over 80 Eat Street Market vendors and four entertainment stages to keep your sated and happy as you raise a toast the sexy iron beast.

Apertivo Sundays | Gerard’s Bar
In a cheeky collab with Gelato Messina, Gerard’s is sprucing the swank of their Apertivo Sundays with two inspired additions to their dessert menu. We can’t 100% guarantee what each dessert will contain but they will surely showcase the ingenuity and oral ecstasy for which Messina and Gerard’s are famed.

RegattaFair 2015 | Regatta Hotel
Everyone’s favourite riverside watering hole is holding a beer, food and wine festival not to be missed! RegattaFair is set to be a huge weekend of live music, drinks and delicious morsels. ‘The Lane’ will feature premium brewers such as Stone & Wood, Yenda, Asahi, James Squire, Matilda Bay and Newstead Brewery, and woodfired pizzas, antipasto and cheese platters, doughnuts and freshly shucked oysters will be on offer to eat. And for those who wear their dancing shoes, there will be blues bands in the Walrus Club, acoustic guitarists in the Courtyard, DJS ‘til late in the Main Bar and buskers in ‘The Lane’. ‘

Jungle Giants | The Triffid
Hip cats, the Jungle Giants are landing at the Triffid bringing with them a heft of swag and some blasting beats. Performing two shows in Brisbane this October, get onto booking tickets so you don’t miss out on the organised maelstrom.
