Oh hey there, weekend, we meet again! And Brisbane? It's time to get into your favourite sundress/shorts and out into the sunshine to start looking for things to do in Brisbane this weekend!

With free dumplings, a chance to snoop inside Brisbane’s iconic buildings and a beach party raceday, there are so many dang things to do in Brisbane right now.

Thursday 8th October

Brisbane Mango Auction

It’s that time of the year again! Mangoes are BACK, baby! The beginning of the delicious mango season officially starts with the Brisbane Mango Auction! Dig deep in to your pockets and bid for the first mango tray of 2015, all in the name of charity. You might want to dig reaallllllyy deep though as last year’s tray went for a mere $30,000.

Friday 9th October

Free Dumplings | New Shanghai

Free pork buns? Free dumplings? Free Chinese bites? Take us there! New Shanghai will be dishing up deliciously authentic Chinese bites for Queens Plaza customers this Friday from 3pm – 4pm and this Saturday from 4pm to 6pm.

Oktoberfest | Bavarian Bier Cafe

That little month-long festival dedicated to drinking steins of beer and wearing dirndl and lederhosen, Oktoberfest (have you heard of it?), is finally upon us and  Bavarian Bier Café is bringing the action with steins a-plenty, bites to eat and LOTS of fun.

Brisbane Open House

Brisbane Open House is back for another cracking year! This is your chance to get a look inside some of Brisbane’s most loved and admired buildings. Take a peek inside Customs House, the Princess Theatre, Newstead House, the Howard Smith Wharves, the Port of Brisbane, Parliament House, the ABC, Griffith Film School, a huge array of Brisbane’s churches and many, many more.

Brazilian Street Party

A new Brazilian Day Street Festival is bursting into Brisbane this Saturday from 12pm until late. 3000 people are expected to attend the first festival of it’s kind in the Fortitude Valley to honour Brazilian Independence Day with cracking Brazilian barbecue and some cheeky caprioskas and caipirinhas.

When: 10th October, from 12pm

Beach Party Raceday

Brisbane Racing Club’s bringing the beach to the track when the annual Beach Party Raceday returns to Doomben Racecourse! Cruise under palm trees and take in the live racing action. Enjoy the sounds of summer on the main stage as you kick back in a deckchair—where else would you rather be? Once you’ve caught all the live races and interstate action from the Caulfield Guineas dance the night away in the sand with a live set from Aussie DJ duo and ARIA chart toppers Rave Radio.

Sunday 11th October

Walk For Awareness

This week marks Queensland Mental Health Week and it culminates in the Walk for Awareness on Sunday 11th October. The fundraiser walk is an opportunity for the community to come together in solidarity and show their support of the push to break the taboo of discussing mental health issues, depression and suicide. The 8km course will take you around the Brisbane River and over the Story Bridge, with the initiative aiming to raise enough money to roll out a School Based Awareness Program tackling youth suicide.

When: 11th October. Registration starts at 7am

Pinot Palooza Brisbane

After sell-out events in Perth and Adelaide last month, Pinot Palooza, the rocking Pinot Noir festival will hit Brisbane bigger and better than ever. Pinot Palooza is a day to worship and indulge in some of Australia and New Zealand's best Pinot Noir, eat delicious food and rock out to great music. The stellar 2015 line-up includes producers such as Ata Rangi, Bay of Fires, Shaw + Smith, Yabby Lake, Kooyong, Mt Difficulty, Giant Steps, Two Paddocks and Pegasus Bay.
