With everything from Thai to British, we’re going around the world in a weekend! We’ll be indulging in the best foods and drinks that Brisbane has to offer whilst celebrating the diversity of our city at the British Film Festival, Thai Festival, Bulimba Festival and of course the Royal Croquet Garden Party.  Then, once our food babies have settled, we’ll be chilling out with some quality cinema both in and outside.

Thursday 12th November

Free Whisky Masterclasses

Australia’s contemporary creative duo, The Design Twins have joined forces with Woodford Reserve to show how simple and easy it is to be the ultimate host this summer.  Firstly creating the essential ‘How To Guide’ to building a stylish home bar; and secondly offering complimentary whiskey masterclasses with the Woodford Reserve Master Distiller, Chris Morris.

British Film Festival

Pour yourself a cup of tea, practice your British accents and indulge in some classic British films at the final weekend of the British Film Festival! Presented by Palace, the BBC British Film Festival is more popular than ever before with a standout selection of new and classic films including Suffragette with a powerful ensemble cast including Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter and Meryl Streep, and Brooklyn, starring Saoirse Ronan and Emory Cohen.

Friday 13th November

Royal Croquet Garden Party

Brisbane’s coolest garden party is going off! Taking over South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt until November 22, the Royal Croquet Club Brisbane is entertaining the pants off Brisbane with a killer line up of food, music, performing arts and croquet! And to add to all the fun, some of Brisbane’s best restaurants are providing the nosh. YUM.

Menu Launch at Corbett and Claude

Pizza just got a whole lot better for you at Corbett & Claude! As if their food wasn’t already some of the best in the city, Corbett & Claude now have a new menu that boasts the highest quality ingredients and delicious flavour combinations. Underground Opera Company Spring Reservoir Season

After the inaugural season in August last year this weekend launches the next season of Opera in the Reservoir.  Yes, that is listening to Opera in the heritage listed Spring Hill Reservoir which has been described as the “perfect acoustic environment”. You’ll laugh with the MC, cry to ‘Boheme’ and cheer with the Toreadore! Immerse yourself in some of the best opera you’ll ever hear.

Recreate Twilight Market and Paper Fashion Show

Celebrate National Recycling Week in style at the Recreate Twilight Market and Paper Fashion Show in King George Square between 4 pm and 9 pm this Friday. See paper couture created by Brisbane’s best fashion designers (like Darb Couture and George Wu), grab a bite from your favourite food trucks and enjoy artisan market stalls, live local music and free paper craft activities. Presented by Brisbane City Council and VISY.

Eat Street Drive-in Movie Cinema

For all of November, the best of two worlds have just collided because the Eat Street Markets have added a pop-up Drive In and Outdoor Cinema to their repertoire! Bring in all the World Famous Funnel Cakes, Golden Gaytime doughnuts or Okinomi House Japanese pizzas as you like while you settle in to watch the latest movies.

AMYTIS Launch

AMYTIS is a new project created by Flynn the accessories label in collaboration with PJS Plantscape designs at The Gettin' Place Cafe. This launch night is your chance to see the creations displayed on beautiful brick walls – the ultimate designer’s dream. The launch even offers complimentary wine and cheese whilst you admire Flynn’s creations.

Think all things Thai: Pad Thai, Muay Thai, Thai dancing, and everything in between, the Brisbane Thai Festival has it all! Celebrating the harmony between the Thai and Australian communities, the festival will bring the best of Thailand’s delicious food and traditions to the heart of Brisbane.

Lunch On The Lawn at The Bulimba Festival

Dust off your picnic rugs and pack your baskets for Bulimba Festival’s headline event, Lunch on the Lawn. With market stalls, gourmet food trucks, and live music curated by the Triffid featuring local band The Grates, it’ll be a celebration of all thing food, wine and family – the best place to kick back and relax on Sunday afternoon.

Sourdough Workshop at Wandering Cooks

After hosting countless workshops around Brisbane and Melbourne, the Wandering Cooks will be hosting Angela O'Toole of The Art Of Eating for the final Sourdough Workshop of the year. The workshop will teach foodies everything they need to know about making a starter culture and sourdough bread at home, as well as providing tasters and a starter kit.

Whisky Tasting at Cobbler

Whisky lovers are invited to come along to a tasting of Laphroaig’s Select Cask, Quarter Cast and Triple Wood, followed by Islay Oysters and Stone Wall cocktails at The Cobbler to celebrate the distillery’s 200 years of making one of the world most renowned whiskeys. Guests will enjoy a unique opportunity to taste the distillery’s newest and freshest cocktail creation, and win $10,000 worth of Laphroaig.

All About E Brisbane Screenings

Looking for more things to do? Get in early and purchase your tickets for All About E. Described as a female version of cult movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert, All About E is Australian director Louise Wadley's first feature-length film. At the story’s core is the title character, E: a beautiful Lebanese-Australian lesbian DJ on the run with a bag of stolen cash with her hilarious gay best friend. Open for limited screenings across the country, it's a must-see!
