At a loss for things to do in Brisbane this weekend? Well, let us help you.

To start there's nothing better than indulging in some of the best food that Brisbane has to offer…except indulging for only $2! Pop Sunnybank’s $2 Food Trail on the agenda, as well as heading to the Christmas Markets at Vieille Branche to grab a bargain before the mad Christmas rush starts next month. Then to finish off the weekend, we might go see a show or two, whether that be at the Judith Wright Centre or the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival. Weekend sorted!

Thursday 19th November

Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival

Bulk buy that popcorn and round up your movie-buddies, this weekend is the opening for the second annual Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival! BAPFF highlights the beauty, diversity and quality of Asia Pacific cinema, and will screen more than 100 features, documentaries and shorts from across the Asia Pacific. There’ll be plenty of cinema classics, guest appearances and special presentations all around the city. We’re particularly excited about seeing Australian director and Cannes Camera D’or winner Michael Rowe present the BAPFF and Australian premiere of Early Winter (Australia, Canada).

Frock Paper Scissors Launch

We’re celebrating Frock Paper Scissors’ 10th birthday in style! The party will reminisce and recognise all of the hard work, passion, creativity and commitment involved in creating and launching Frock Paper Scissors, and the invitation is extended to all family, friends, FROCK followers and alumni! All attendees get complimentary drinks, delectable canapés, entertainment and your very own copy of the 10th Edition of Frock Paper Scissors.

Friday 20th November

Royal Croquet Garden Party

This is the last weekend of Brisbane’s biggest and coolest garden party! Taking over South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt on 6th of November for 17 whole fun-filled days, the Royal Croquet Club Garden Party has been entertaining the pants off Brisbane with a killer line up of food, music, performing arts and, obvs, croquet... so take your last chance to get there!

Scotch & Soda at The Judith Wright Centre

The Judith Wright Centre is opening its doors for a carnival like no other. Starring the Uncanny Carnival Band, a rumpled troupe who underscore the action with their toe-tapping fusion of jazz and music hall, Scotch & Soda boasts a mix of risk-taking circus skill and rip-roaring humour, with a chaser of flair and originality. Opening on Thursday, it’ll be a show not to be missed, with everything from jazz beats performed by mesmerising musicians to top-shelf tricks performed by daredevil acrobats.

Saturday 21st November

The Breakfast Club at Dandelion & Driftwood

Until the end of November, breakfast lovers will have the chance to try custom recipes featuring Carman’s Café Granola created by some of Australia’s most respected venues and chefs around the country. The Brisbane respresentative is fab Hendra cafe, Dandelion & Driftwood, who will be featuring French toasted brioche buns lightly fried in butter, sprinkled with Carman's Almond, Pecan & Maple Café Granola, fresh blueberries, drizzled with maple syrup and sugar dusting. Weekend brunch sorted.

Eat Street Drive-in Movie Cinema

For all of November, the best of two worlds have just collided because the Eat Street Markets have added a pop-up Drive In and Outdoor Cinema to their repertoire! Bring in all the World Famous Funnel Cakes, Golden Gaytime doughnuts or Okinomi House Japanese pizzas as you like while you settle in to watch the latest movies.

Why bother fighting crowds at a busy department store when you can support our creative community, have a lovely day out AND find interesting gifts for your friends and family? With all your favourite stalls including Kara Rosenlund and her caravan, Nico Underwear, Fiori Cupcakes, the Iron Ladies (guest appearance) and a range of other emerging designers and artisans, expect all your hand-crafted designer goods and gifting needs to be covered at the Vielle Branche Christmas Market!

The Stores West End Wine & Cheese Afternoon

The Stores in West End is hosting its first “Because We Can Sunday Wine & Cheese!” afternoon, giving you the chance to try samples of all their cheese and wine.  With everything from your favourite Ballandean Wines matched with a selection of locally and internationally sourced gourmet cheeses from the Fromagerie, it will be a relaxing afternoon of wine, cheese & live music by local Brisbane band, The Sleeping Dogs..

Sunnybank $2 Food Trail

We all know that Sunnybank is the one-stop-shop for all the Asian cuisine you can think of, and this weekend they’re giving us a chance to taste all the wonders of the Asian world for only $2 a dish! Each stop on the Sunnybank $2 Food Trail will be offering one or two mini-dishes; allowing you to graze your way through a deliciously diverse range of Asian cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, Hong Kong Style, Vietnamese, Korean, Taiwanese and more! It doesn’t get much better than that!

Sourdough Workshop at Wandering Cooks

After hosting countless workshops around Brisbane and Melbourne, Wandering Cooks will be hosting Angela O'Toole of The Art Of Eating for the final Sourdough Workshop of the year. The workshop will teach foodies everything they need to know about making a starter culture and sourdough bread at home, as well as providing tasters and a starter kit.

All About E Brisbane Screenings

Looking for more things to do? Get in early and purchase your tickets for All About E. Described as a female version of cult movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert, All About E is Australian director Louise Wadley's first feature-length film. At the story’s core is the title character, E: a beautiful Lebanese-Australian lesbian DJ on the run with a bag of stolen cash with her hilarious gay best friend. Open for limited screenings across the country, it's a must-see!

Australian PGA Championship

Think you don’t like golf? Think again. The Australian PGA Championship is hitting RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast this December, and it’s going to be bucketloads of fun. A kids day on 1st December and bars and viewing platforms at the end of the course, it’s a great way to welcome in summer. Make a long weekend of it and book one of the amazing accommodation deals and have some fun in the sun on the ‘Golf Coast’.
