Things To Do In Brisbane

Christmas shopping. Every Christmas we promise ourselves that we’ll start in October next year, and when October rolls around and we convince ourselves that we’ll get it done in November… Until suddenly it’s December and we’re part of the mad rush that is the last minute Christmas shop.

This weekend we’re knocking the Christmas shopping off early at the Etsy Made Local Brisbane Market and the QAGOMA Design Market! Why buy socks from Target when you can get high-quality, home-made gifts made by artists right here in Brisbane. It’s a win-win situation, and the best part? Presents = sorted.

Here are the best things to do in Brisbane this weekend:

Thursday 26th November

Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival

Bulk buy that popcorn and round up your movie-buddies, this weekend is the final weekend for the second annual Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival! BAPFF highlights the beauty, diversity and quality of Asia Pacific cinema, and will screen more than 100 features, documentaries and shorts from across the Asia Pacific. There’ll be plenty of cinema classics, guest appearances and special presentations all around the city. We’re particularly excited about seeing Australian director and Cannes Camera D’or winner Michael Rowe present the BAPFF and Australian premiere of Early Winter (Australia, Canada).

It’s the beginning of the silly season. What better way to welcome it than with a dance-heavy weekend of beer, beats and bacteria? Can’t get much sillier, really. The Weekend of Tartness, organised by the guys at The Scratch is a tribute to sour ales and the beer wizards who brew them. It’s summer and sour ales are arguably one of the most traditional styles of brewing. Under the sour umbrella sits a variety of sub-styles: berliner weisse, saison, lambic, flanders (flemish) red, gose (pronounced go-zuh) and gueze. 37 rare and unique sours will be tapped and you do not want to miss out!
