Brisbane’s Northsiders have been able to seriously up their bragging rights game recently, following the opening of Westfield Chermside’s unreal new food and entertainment precinct right on their doorstep. Over 20 amazing new dining spots, manicured lawns, resort-style mini-pools, comfy AF seating—we could go on. And, yeah, it’s all just up the road now. #nobiggie

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more epic, Westfield Chermside is continuing to spoil us rotten, celebrating the precinct’s arrival with an incredible Festival of Lights from 3-5 August (yep, by now you’ve probably guessed they don’t do things by halves…)

The gorgeous event will see three nights of spectacular light shows and entertainment, including a special appearance by globally renowned audiovisual artist Kit Webster. Kit's ethereal, innovative glowing sculptures, digital installations and immersive environments have wowed crowds at light festivals across Australia and the world.  From 6–9 pm each evening, Kit will be bringing the giant domed roof fondly known as "The Urchin” to life with real-time VJ performances timed to the beats of some of Brisbane's best DJs, plus dazzling live light shows that will dance through the precinct every hour, on the hour.

All for your sensory pleasure, the whole precinct will be dotted with interactive projections and light exhibits, and here's just a lil' taste of what you can get amongst: The "Light Wave Archway"–an illuminated archway filled with teeny tiny LEDs; "Adventures Under the Sea", a magical lagoon odyssey with creatures from the deep; "Digital Dance Off", where you'll cut shapes alongside a pixel projection man who mirrors your moves using kinetic projection technology; and the "Kaleidoscope Walkway", which lets you forge colourful, liquid-like trails along a surreal projected walkway.

As if that's not enough, the whole space will come alive with a firework display each evening at 6pm, free glow-in-the-dark face painting and glowsticks, and–just casually–robot LED stilt walkers. We seriously can’t imagine a more magical atmosphere to enjoy with your friends, family and fave eats. It’s the perfect excuse to trial one of Westfield Chermside’s awesome new restaurants (hot tip: you'll get front row seats to all the action at The Bavarian, Bootlegger, Kinn + Derm, Kamikaze TepanyakiMotto Motto, Bin 931, Tapworks Bar & Grill, Zeus Street Greek, Betty’s Burgers, Fiery Deli and Café 63).

We are so there like a moth to a flame. Mark it in your diaries, because this one’s going to be a total stunner.
