The Ultimate Crumble Round Up

This gloomy weather makes me hungry. Not hungry enough to have that salad in the fridge, mind you, but hungry nonetheless. It's a hunger that needs something very specific to quash it. Something homely and warming, sweet and crumbly, and definitely not a salad. Have you guessed?

That's right. I've got a hankering for some crumble. Apple, rhubarb, strawberry – you name it. Give me some sweet, warm fruit, add a crumbly topping and some ice cream (or custard!) and I will be sated.

I know I'm not alone in this. So, in the spirit of sharing the love, and providing some solace from the bleakness, I've tracked down some pretty special crumbles to keep us going until Spring. My mission? To cure your tummy rumbles one crumble at a time. 

1. Apple & Rhubarb Crumble | Salt 
A classic combo, done beautifully. This is a no-brainer.

2. Pear, Apple, & Rhubarb Crumble with Candied Fig Ice Cream | Piaf
A beautiful dessert from one of our favourite Southbank restaurants. The candied fig ice cream makes this something special.

3. Crumble of Quince and Rhubarb with White Chocolate Mousse | Aria 
Elegant, rich, decadent. You can't go wrong finishing off a special dinner with this little beauty.

4. Apple, Berry & Hazelnut Crumble with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream | Bistro Arlette
The addition of hazelnut to this crumble is genius. You'd have to be nuts (ha!) not to gobble this up.
