Now a regular installment on Brisbane's winter social calendar, Customs House's annual winter igloo bars have returned to their famed riverside spot. Once again, the beautiful igloos have had an Aspen-themed makeover and are being brought to you in collaboration with iconic champagne house, Veuve Clicquot.
Each beautiful igloo has a very apres-ski vibe and are positioned right along the riverside. All befit with luxe faux furs, comfy armchairs and Aspen-style decor, a stint inside will whisk you away to a cabin in the mountains rather than sub-tropical Brisbane. You can book one to have all to yourself for three hours (with a minimum spend of $800), with space for up to nine people inside, so get a gang together and brave the cold. You can also just find a cosy seat by the river of course—the apres-ski vibes aren't just inside the igloos.
Once you're cosied up and snuggled in under a blanket, you can sip on glasses of Veuve Clicquot NV or go all with with an entire bottle, as well as winter-worthy cocktails like the frosty Berries & Bubbles with fresh raspberry, lemon juice, Bombay Sapphire gin and St Germaine elderflower liqueur topped off with Veuve Clicquot.
The food menu this year is definitely winter worthy, featuring indulgent Scampi caviar blini with crème frâiche, whole baked brie served with crostini, smoked duck rillettes or the now iconic citrus-poached Moreton Bay Bug croissant with lime mayo.
Champagne, hearty winter feeds and a cosy igloo to yourself, what a way to spend those chilly wintery eves. So, break out the knitwear and make a beeline for Brisbane’s pop-up igloo bars.
