This week is bursting at the seems with things to do, places to go, and of course food to eat! Here's our edit of what you can look forward to in Brisbane this week.

Monday 9th

Cherry Blossom Festival | Sakè

Imagine holding a festival for the flowering of Jacaranda Trees in Brisbane, then multiply it by a thousand and you've got the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan. Sake, at Eagle Street Pier, are bringing the Cherry Blossom Festival to Brisbane for the whole month of September. Cherry-Blossom-inspired tastes have made their way into several new cocktails and menu items. You must get down and give the cocktails a try!

The Unspoken Word is 'Joe'

This self-referential story of a break up will cross meta-theatrical terrain and have you LOLing in your seat. With a cast from one of Australia's hottest emerging theatre companies, Melbourne's MKA: Theatre of New Writing, this is a show worth your pocket money.

Wine & Cheese | Bitter Suite

We commonly associate Bitter Suite as a craft-beer haven with an amazing pub-grub-style menu. But, don't forget they also have some great wines! Fino Food and Wine has teamed up with Lock, Stock & Barrel to host a Wine & Cheese night to mix things up a bit. We're welcoming it with open arms!

Wilgefortis 13 | Jugglers Art Space

The new exhibition at Jugglers is inspired by the fictional character, Wilgefortis, the saint of anxiety, grief, escape, and liberation. Six artists were asked to create a piece to the brief of 'rejection', with the hope of challenging the viewer to rethink the word, and their response. Deep stuff! Go and give it a whirl.

When Dad Married Fury | Twelfth Night Theatre

John Wood, of Blue Heelers fame, marries an American beauty queen, half his age (you're killing it, John!). We're talking about a brand new play at the Twelfth Night Theatre, called When Dad Married Fury. The play examines the common themes of greed, jealousy, love, and expectation. It's on for two days only, and we think it's worth a look.

Price | from $42.50

Hearts of Gold | Bleeding Heart Gallery

Hearts of Gold returns for its 10th instalment at Bleeding Heart Gallery. One of our favourite exhibits in Brisbane, Hearts of Gold showcases local, emerging Brissie artists. All proceeds from the opening night will go to a local Brisbane Charity, so it's a fantastic cause.

SpringFlare Festival of Colours

From what we can gather, this festival is like the colour run, but without the running. When we dig a little deeper we can see, it is inspired by the Holi festival, in India, signifying the renewal of life. In saying that, probably only 1% of people will know that as they're hurtling rainbow dust at each other's private parts. There is also live music, an array of multicultural food, and craft stalls.
