This Weekend In Brisbane

By Jessica Pridmore - 29 May 2014

This Weekend in Brisbane is, frankly, a stellar effort from all our lovely Brisbane businesses. They've gone out of their way to put on some tremendous events this week, and we're pleased as punch! There's a whole lot of foodie finds, a little sumfin' sumfin' for the culture vultures and we've even brought the goods for the fitness fiends among us. Read on, dear urbanlisters — here's our picks of what's on this week in Brisbane.

Thursday 29th

Paniyiri Platter | Greek on Cav
Did you miss out on this year's epic Paniyiri Greek Festival? Or, you did go, and you now can't face a meal that doesn't come with a serve of souvlaki and a shot of Ouzo? Well, lucky for you, Greek on Cav went and partnered with the Paniyiri Festival to bring you The Paniyiri Platter! Made for two, this is the mother of platters, piled with a selection of all your Greek food faves. Gather your mates/loved ones...or no-one, and enjoy.

You'll be able to track your progress in the studio and within Shri's friendly community group (aka, everyone else doing it tough like you!), and, if you succeed, you'll get a gift card to use towards future classes. Oh, yeah, and you'll feel fit and healthy too!

Never have the true greats of the music world sounded so modern! Treat your ears and, some might argue, your soul, to some genius musical talent. For one night only, The University of Queensland Symphony Orchestra, The University of Queensland Chorale, and special guests The St Peter's Choral will perfom musical classics from some of the greatest musicians in history. Watching a 250 strong orchestra is a must at least once in your lifetime and demands some serious kudos! Trust us, this is two hours that you'll thank us for. 1KG Lamb Rib Challenge | Kingsleys
When we found out about Kingsleys 1kg Lamb Rib Challenge, we died and went to meaty heaven! Here's the low down: scoff down the tower of lamb ribs, including the fries (that means EVERYTHING on your plate) and they'll shout you a drink to wash it all down with. To be honest, this is less of a win-lose situation, more of a 'this is awesome I get to eat loads of ribs' kinda deal. We recommend you attempt Shri's yoga challenge (see above) after this one.
