It's official — winter has arrived. And though this can signal, in some, the deterioration of our social lives in favour of the sofa and a good sitcom, we've tried extra extra hard this week to entice you, dear readers, away from imminent hibernation. This weekend in Brisbane has bundles of things for you to do; book buying, vegan eating, food cooking, drinking wine GOT style, even numerous ridiculously hot chillies. See. So much to do — so get to it! Here's what's on this weekend in Brisbane.

Thursday 5th

Winter Yoga Passes | Cultivate Calm
With the days getting shorter and the nights getting colder, there is a tendency to — ahem — let the exercise regime slip. But winter doesn't have to always involve a doona and your comfiest sweatpants! Embrace your inner yogi on your plight to keeping fit and healthy this winter by signing up for Cultivate Calm's Winter Yoga pass of 10 classes for just $75! You'll feel relaxed, nimble (oh how the body aches when there's a chill in the air!) and ready to kick the cold weathers butt!

When: Until June 30 (all classes must be used by this time)

Fck Up Night (FUN) — By Soften The Fck Up | Brew
The very clever folks at Spur Project have created the non-for profit initiative, Soften The Fck Up, a project that sheds light on the rate of suicide in men throughout Australia. Through a series of informal events called 'Fck Up Nights', people come together for a drink and a chat at a local bar, and, just hang out. There are only two rules for the evening, you must meet at leats one new person, and you must share at least one f**k up you've made. It's fun, it's pretty damn therapeutic, and who knows, you could actually help someone without even knowing it.

When: 6.45pm, to attend register here

Perfectly Yum Vegan Pop-Up Shop | West End
Perfectly Yum, a new Vegan Pop-Up store, has just opened its doors in a tiny space in West End. Serving a great selection of raw vegan meals — including some pretty delicious breakfast choices and desserts, for those of us with an inclination towards the sweeter things in life — everything on the menu is not only paleo friendly, it's also gluten, grain, sugar and animal product free! The best bit: three times a year the big-hearted guys behind this tiny outlet put on meals to feed the homeless with profits from the store. How sweet is that?

When: Fridays 4pm-10pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-2pm

Lee Mathews Winter Sale | Lee Mathews
Mention the word 'sale' and you'll pique our interest. Mention the words 'Lee Mathews sale' and you'll have yourself a stampede of bodies racing to the counters to drop some moola! Champions of classic knitwear and versatile edgy pieces, Lee Mathews is a must-have designer in any fashionistas wardrobe. So, if you need to stock up on some staple winter items, drop by this weekend and bag yourself 30% off selected winter stock! And, besause we're a thoughtful bunch, mention 'The Urban List', you'll bag yourself an extra 10% off the sale price. Don't say we're not good to you Brisbane..

When: Until Monday 9th June

Friday 6th

Boxvintage Pop-Up Art Gallery: Shapeshift | The End

Each class has a different theme; from Italian Classics, to Mastering Meat, Perfect Pastry — the list goes on — and is designed for you to take away invaluable skills to use at home. You can sign up for just one or two, or, all seven classes if you're mad keen! You can even book a room or cottage on the property and make a holiday of it.

Game of Rhones | Light Space
Join us fair folk of Westeros (or, Brisbanites as you're more affectionately known) for the time has come to play a Game of Rhones! Join in and celebrate the classic grape varieties from the Rhone Valley, France, for an afternoon of wine tastings from 'Beyond The Wall', aka the Rhone Valley of course! Plus, you can sample more than 100 of Australia's most prestigious drops. Hunger will be vanquished, with hearty fare to feed the merry crowd, and look out for your favourite characters from the series (we suggest you avoid that young Joffrey fellow — we hear he's quite the conversation 'killer')! Dazzle your tastebuds then cast your votes to find out who will take the Iron Throne! There can only be one!

When: 1pm, tickets $50 pp (includes all wine tastings plus take-home Riedel Ouverture Magnum wine glasses!)

Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival | Caxton Street
Not only an institution on the annual Brisbane events cal', this year see's the 20th anniversary of the Caxton Street Seafood Festival! 20 years of locals stuffing their faces with fishy fare deserves some kind of kudos! It goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway) this is one event not to miss. If you've never been — then shame on you! You can hardly call yourself a Brisbanite (unless you're allergic to seafood. Then you're are excused)! — come with an empty stomach and enjoy a buzzing atmosphere, and the spolis of our great oceans!

Gallery Launch | TW Fine Art Gallery
Been eyeing up that original artwork that would be the 'perfect' finishing touch to your pad, but sadly realise that not only can you NOT afford it, you cannot afford it! Enter the team at TW Fine Art. They hold a collection of incredible limited edition prints from up and coming and established artists around the world, at a price tag that won't chew through your life savings! Their motto is "art for one and one for art", and we think that's pretty gosh-darn great.

When: Open from June 9

Wednesday 11th

Steak and Stein Night | Bavarian Beer Café
Wednesday. The magic halfway hump day. That mid-week milestone where you feel equal parts elated that you're almost at the Friday finish line, equal parts completely down trodden that it is not even close to being the end of the week yet. If you're anything like us, a beer and a steak is the only way to get us through, so Steak and Stein night at The Bavarian Beer Café is music to our ears. Grab yourself a steak and you'll receive a free 500ml stein of beer from (who we've lovingly named for the benefit of this story) the 'Bavarian Beer Angels' behind the bar.

When: every Wednesday from 5pm

Whisky Dinner | The Story Bridge Hotel
There's something just so damn classy about a meal served with whisky! Banish those mid-week blues and treat yourself to an eight-course tasting menu — created by Head Chef Adam Clements — and accompanied by perfectly partnered single malt whiskies from the Glenmorangie and Ardbeg distilleries. Fans of the amber drop will be spoilt for choice, and let's be honest, you can pretend to be Don Draper at a late night business dinner. Whisky. In. Hand.

When: From 6pm, $140 per person. Bookings are essential

Chilli Off | Embassy Bar
Two words: Chilli Off. It just sounds mean. The very name strikes the hearts of non-chilli lovers with fear, conjuring up every prior encounter with a rogue chilli you've found in your taco! So, if you think you've got the stuff (not to mention you're ever so slightly crazy!), get down to Embassy Bar and try to consume five rounds of blow-your-face-off chilli salsa. For $20 entry, you get a feed, a beer upon completion and full bragging rights for a year…

When: 7pm, $20pp
