If you're still stuck for things to do in Brisbane this weekend after reading this list, you're hard to please. This weekend in Brisbane we have an event that combines shopping, cocktails, and putt-putt (not joking), pumpkin-carving workshops, pool-side Sunday sessions, Mexican street-food parties, and one very tasty first birthday.

Read on for things to do in Brisbane this weekend.

Thursday the 23rd

IMA's Subtropic Complex | James Street
Have you heard the news? James Street is going RESORT (via Palm Springs), and Institute of Modern Art is right there along with them. Their Subtropic Complex exhibition will see artworks by emerging Brisbane artists placed in James Street's best boutiques (including camargue, Maryon's, Gerard's Bistro, Gail Sorronda, Scrumptious Reads and more) exploring the idea of the 'staycation', and how the climate—both the prevailing weather conditions of a region, and as a way to describe the dominant attitudes of a place on the other—affects each artists' perception of self, place and politics. Subtropic Complex opens today and runs through to 23rd November.

When: 23rd October until 23rd November

Go-To Pop Up | Westfield Carindale (near Lorna Jane)
One of our very favourite skin care lines, which, until now, has only been available for purchase online, is popping up in the real world (at Westfield Carindale, to be exact), and we're pretty gosh darn excited about it! Go-To is the skin-care brainchild of beauty wizard Zoe Foster Blake, and we're big fans. Don't miss the rare opportunity to sample Go-To products in the wild!

When: Thursday the 23rd - Sunday October 26th

Friday the 24th

Colour Me Brisbane | G20 Cultural Celebrations, CBD
We are massive fans of public art—and anything that makes our cool city's landscape pop—so when we heard about G20's Colour Me Brisbane initiative, we knew we would love it! Using the city as your canvas, you can virtually paint a palette of vibrant colours, transforming Brisbane's most iconic landmarks with Paint Your City—and then sit back and watch the spectacle of the Colour Me Brisbane interactive light and projection display in all its glory. Colour Me Brisbane runs until 9th November.

When: Until 9th November

Mierle Laderman Ukeles' Maintenance Art Works 1969–1980 | Institute of Modern Art
New York-based artist with a penchant for creating works that celebrate feminism and the everyday routines of life, Mierle Laderman Ukeles, has a survey of her work exhibiting in the Institute of Modern Art right now—you need to see this show. Thought provoking and intriguing, the show is curated by Krist Gruijthuijsen and runs until 29th November. Get your tickets here

When: Until 29th November

RESORT After Dark | James St
A balmy street party under the stars, complete with cocktails, putt-putt, designer meet-and-greets, and loads of shopping, RESORT After Dark promises to be a new Brisbane event not to miss! You might have seen us raving about the Man Repeller coming to town? Word on the street is that she'll be roaming the streets at After Dark and getting her shop on, but you've got to be there to meet her!

When: 5pm to 9pm

Brick Block | Kunstler
This month, Kunstler will be taken over by Brick Block—a collaboration between contemporary jeweler, Bianca Mavrick and graphic designer Jack Loel. Prints, tote bags, ceramics, sculptures, and jewellery will be on display in store.

When: Friday 24 October until late November

Saturday the 25th

Pumpkin Carving | Showroom
Forget the sexy cat costume—this year we're embracing our favourite pagan holiday with some clean, honest jack-o-lantern carving! The pumpkin carving tradition is the natural progression of Aussies' embracing all things Halloween, and this year the gang at Showroom want to show you what it's all about. This is a great activity for the kids, but we think a few grown ups might be keen to tag along?

Price: Tickets are $38, which gets you one pumpkin, a tea light, and drinks and snacks. BYO carving knife.
When: 2pm – 4:30pm, with a second after-school session on October 30th

Fashion Photography with Tim Ashton | Apple Store, MacAurthur Chambers
Tim Ashton's work has been featured in Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Yen, and Oyster among others, and now you can learn the tricks of the trade from the master himself. Tim will be in store at Apple to impart his tips and insider-secrets, and share his journey as a successful freelance photographer.

Price: Free, reserve your place here
When: 2pm

Mexican Street Food Fiesta | Gerard's Laneway
Like we need an excuse to drink mojitos. Scrumptious Reads Mexican Street Food Fiesta is taking over the Gerard's Laneway this Saturday, with delish authentic Mexican Street food and mojitos from Gerard's Mojito Embassy on offer. Sweet tunes round out this cute street party.

When: 11am until sold out

RESORT Trailblazers: Fashion x Digital | The Box
Got a passion for fashion? As part of James St's fun and super-stylin' three-day RESORT event, this intimate panel discussion between Leandra Medine (aka, the Man Repeller), The Urban List Director, our very own Susannah George, and Zimmerman's Creative Director, Nicky Zimmerman, presented by Elle Australia's Deputy Editor Damien Woolnough, will be a never-to-be-repeated collision of well-dressed minds.
