Brewsvegas hits town this week, which means there's more than your typical amount of fun (and boozing) to be had every night of the week. If beer pong comp's, chilli cook-offs, and freshly baked beer-flavoured treats aren't your style, we also have movie festivals, and one very unique stage show to keep you busy. Here's what's on this weekend in Brisbane:

Thursday the 20th

3 Course Family Banquet Special | Sono Portside
If your children appreciate the flavours of Japan and know their way around a tatami mat (or you would like them to) you'll appreciate the family banquet special available at Sono Portside on Wednesday and Thursday nights. With a fresh and friendly menu that features all your Japanese favourites (hello, pork belly with sweet soy), you'll all leave with happy tummies.
When | Wednesday and Thursday nights until the end of May
Price | $45 per adults, $25 per child (3yrs to 12yrs)

Saturday the 22nd

Gremlins | Palace Barracks Cinemas
Round two of Palace's flashback films season includes such classic flicks as The Little Mermaid and The Addams Family, but this weekend the featured film is the cult classic, Gremlins.
When | From 10:30am
Price | Tickets are $10

Indie Rock Party | The Zoo

Have your eardrums massaged as the first Indie Rock Party for 2014 kicks off at The Zoo tonight, featuring crooners Fox 'N' Firkin, Cassia, The Thrill, Dane Adamo and folk artists George Higgins.
When | from 7:30pm
Price | Tickets are $18.50

Sunday the 23rd

4 Pines Happy Hour & Beer Pong Tournament | Archive
As part of this year's hops-happy Brewsvegas schedule (get the scoop on all the Brewsvegas events here), the beer pong tournament at Archive promises to be a doozy, with beer-y prizes to be won (that is the prizes are beer related, not covered in beer), plus entry is free, and there's 4 Pines on tap, $10 schnittys and $10 lamb pies. Perfect Sunday? You know it.
When | 2pm till late
Price | Free entry

2nd Annual Chilli Cook Off | Kettle & Tin
It's baaaack. Get exited chilli fans, the 2nd Chilli Cook Off is taking place in Kettle & Tin's backyard, with competitors including Anise, Statler & Waldorf, Super Whatnot, Padre Bar, and Phoenix Beer among others. $10 will get you a taste of the chilli, a cold beverage from Burleigh Brewing Co. and a people's choice vote. There will also be a Picklehead Pickle stand and a 'Bloody Jerry' cocktail stand on hand, in case you get sick of chilli and beer (not likely).
When | From 11am, with the chilli judging at 2pm
Price | Entry is free, chilli is $10

Beerkary Bakery | Bosc
Combining two great things — baked goods and beers — is the Beerkary, and it's coming to West End's Bosc for Brewsvegas. The sweet and savoury baked goods (think stout sourdough with glazed pork jowl, maple coffee croissants, and sour milk and malt donuts) will be matched by beers from Bacchus Brewery.
When | From 10am
Price | Pastries from $5–9

West End Film Festival | Rumpus Cinema (Next to Rumpus Room)
Screening 14 of Australia's best short films in an open-air warehouse-style space beside iconic West End bar, Rumpus Room, the West End Film Festival is a celebration of some of our most exiting emerging filmmakers. We say grab a Yiros and get down there.
When | From 5:30pm
Price | $20 for one session, $35 for an all-evening pass

Monday the 24th

Burgers, Blues, and Boiler Makers | Papa Jack's
What's the best thing for a case of the Monday blues? More Blues, of course! And burgers, and boiler makers, for only 20 beans, from those downtown New Orleans boys at Papa Jack's no less.
When | Monday night
Price | Burger and Boiler Maker for $20

Tonight you can be the first to witness the stunning new collection of Shane Willmett's gorgeous small works in Indian Ink to the public, at PUBLIC in the CBD.
When | From 7:30 pm

Green Porno | Brisbane Concert Hall
Based on Isabella Rossellini's critically acclaimed short film series about animals and their sex lives, Green Porno is a delightfully weird one-woman stage show about nature and mating. Each short story focuses on a particular animal and is scientifically accurate, so you'll be learning at the same time. Win/win?
Price | Tickets start from $79

Wednesday the 26th

The Hello Morning | Black Bear Lodge
Respected rockers, The Hello Morning, are performing their soulful set at Black Bear tonight. Think Wilco. Think Otis Redding. Supported by Big Iron.
When | Gig starts at 8pm
Price | Tickets are $10 at the door
