A new month brings with it a delicious smattering of new Brisbane restaurants, new Brisbane bars, and—oh joy—new Brisbane gelato shops to eat our way through. There's also cake, pizzas, ribs, and more.

If you're looking for things to do in Brisbane this month, read on for our list of what's new in our great city.

Ben's Burgers

To say we—and the people of Brisbane—love burgers is a gross understatement, so when Valley new kid, Ben's Burgers swung their doors open, you bet we were there. Not only is the new Brisbane restaurant serving simple American-style burgers, sides, and frothy drinks (both beers and milkshakes), but they also do a mean breakfast, and have created brioche-encased monstrosities like The Elvis—a bacon, peanut butter, banana, and maple syrup burger—for Brisbane's burger loving hordes. Because we love you, we tried them out. All in the name of research.

The Flying Cock

As if we needed an excuse to make d*ck jokes. New Brisbane pub, The Flying Cock, has delighted us with their pun-ny menu and bar-food favourites like burgers, deep-fried pickles, hot wings, and shoestring fries. We're all for top-notch pub grub, and this new Fortitude Valley dive bar and brew house delivers.

Paleo Café Bulimba

The latest addition to Brisbane's paleo scene is the Paleo Café in Bulimba, which only opened its doors yesterday. Meaty delights, paleo breakfast and lunch chow, and coffees (made on any milk your little heart desires) abound. Not only a café, this paleo mecca also stocks everything you need for you caveman pantry, including whole foods, dairy-free ice cream, and every variety of coconut by-product you could dream of.

The Third Wheel Pizzeria

Much-loved Milton Café Two Wheels & A Handlebar have a new venture, their Third Wheel Pizzeria. Opening their quaint Brisbane café of a Friday night for the very first time, they Two Wheels team are doing a simple and totally authentic pizza menu to get your weekend started right.

Vanilla Pod Specialty Cake Kitchen

Popular Ascot bakery and café, Vanilla Pod, bowed down to demand and opened a second, purely cake-focused store in Albion, and we're stoked. This new Brisbane cake shop will cater to your every frosting-coated demand. While it will remain business as usual at their café, the new Specialty Cake Kitchen will be home to Vanilla Pod's cake consultations and cake tastings.

La Macelleria

New Brisbane gelato shop, La Macelleria, came to town this month and ruined all our healthy eating plans. This authentic gelato joint in Teneriffe stole our hearts with their epic menu (you have to try the Bo & Bo, a ridiculously delish mascarpone gelato with home-made Nutella), and the owners' obvious gelato-obsession—these guys take gelato very seriously. And, not only do they sell the good stuff in a cone or cup, but they also make gelato cakes!

Southern Attitude

Soul food is hot right now (and it's not just the Tobasco), so the arrival of Southern Attitude in Bulimba will be music to the ears of Brisbane's rib fans. Coming out of this American barbecue joint you'll find all the greasy goodness you could want—fries, burgers, wings, barbecue steaks, fried chicken, po' boy sandwiches, plus cocktails and an impressive whisky selection.
