We’ve rounded up some of the hottest events to get you set for your most eventful month of 2019 yet. Here's what's on in Brisbane in October. 

Brisbane Fashion Month

Whether you’re interested in working in the fashion industry or your love your fashion is more of a hobby (much to your credit card's dismay), then make sure you check out all the events happening this month for Brisbane Fashion Month. From runway shows and pop up stores to workshops and guided walking tours, Brisbane Fashion Month showcases the best the Brisbane and Queensland fashion community has to offer.

ZZT Sunday Brunch 

Fancy an exotic brunch experience? Then gather the crew for brunch at ZA ZA TA, where you can relish in Tel Aviv spice market vibes. Indulge in a two-and-a-half hour sitting every Sunday with a selection of fresh pickled vegetables, woodfired shakshuka, slow cooked meats and housemade Israeli breads with dipping hummus and labneh. Plus what even is brunch without a few glasses of prosecco or rosé?

Oktoberfest at Munich Brauhaus and The Bavarian has well and truly kicked off, with a line-up of traditional feasting and drinking, games and challenges, and unforgettable parties happening right up until Sunday 27 October. Throughout the celebrations, you can try special Oktoberfest brews, feast on the set menu or let loose at one of the themed parties taking place at Munich Brauhaus each weekend. The first party on Saturday 5 October is all about Harry Potter—not sure what it has to do with Oktoberfest, but we’re totally on board.

James Street RESORT 

Looking for another excuse to go shopping? Well look no further as James Street’s annual RESORT event is back and better than ever this October. If you’re unfamiliar, the event series celebrates the precinct and its community as a primary cultural hub both locally and across Australia. As well as round table discussions and community forums focusing on new ideas and new perspectives, RESORT will once again feature James Street After Dark where you can take advantage of late night shopping accompanied with unique experiences in store.

Women in Music Awards

The Australian Women in Music Awards are back in 2019 for their second year. Groundbreaking in the reach for equality in the Australian musical landscape, the awards provide a space for Australian female artists to be recognised and acknowledged. As well as the awards, the event will feature various workshops and keynote addresses that explore pressing issues in the industry.

Pinot Palooza 

Pinot Palooza is back for a day dedicated to the best red the Southern Hemisphere has to offer. Whether you’re a rookie or a master sommelier, sip your way through over 100 of Australia and New Zealand’s greatest wine producers. Not a pinot fan? No worries, the event will once again feature a vermouth bar as well as a selection of beers and tasty eats when your palette needs a break.

Sea to City 

If sipping wine, listening to live music and tasting the region’s best seafood against the spectacular backdrop of the Brisbane River sounds like your idea of a perfect Sunday, the Brisbane’s delicious bug and oyster trail, Sea to the City, is for you. Taking over Eagle Street Pier with pop-up stalls dishing up an array of delicious seafood dishes from 17 of the amazing restaurants in the surrounding precincts, it’s a shellfish-filled afternoon not to be missed.

Doggy Howloween

Yes, you read that correctly, a Halloween party for doggos. Whether you have a dog or wish you had one, you are welcome to this poochtacular event. Of course you will find all of the classic Halloween activities, but with a doggy twist. Spooky photo shoots, bobbing for tennis balls and a haunted maze are just some of the adorable things to do, plus a competition for best costume (for the pups, not you).

Orpheus and Eurydic

Picture this: You’re a heartbroken husband who has just been granted the chance to bring your deceased wife back from the underworld. Sounds good so, far right? Only there’s one condition–on the journey home you can’t look at your wife, not even for one moment. This is the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, which for this operatic performance, will mix thrilling acrobatics from Circa, stirring performances and moving music.

An absolute must-do for Brisbane's biggest food and wine buffs, the Good Food and Wine Show is gracing us with its sweet prescene for another massive year. This year's event will feature a huge lineup of some of Australia's fave chefs, along with local booze producers such as Sirromet Wines, Sofi Spritz, Newstead Brewery and over 200 exhibitors showcasing their tasty products for you to sample.
