Another day, another public holiday peeking suggestively around the corner, and time for another of our favourite regular stories: what’s open this Labour Day in Brisbane.

Here at The Urban List we A) love public holidays, obvs but B) think they are the perfect excuse to work our way through the growing list of Brisbane restaurants and cafes serving up the goods.

There’s nothing worse than dreaming of a languid public holiday morning filled with noshing and chillaxing, only to find that your favourite Brisbane café is doing the same. Oh, the horror.

Don’t fret, we’ve come to your rescue, with this comprehensive list of fab things to do in Brisbane this Labour Day.

The Balfour Kitchen

New Farm

Start the morning right with The Balfour Kitchen’s breakfast for long weekend champions; they’ll be open from 7am as usual for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Eagle’s Nest Brisbane

Kangaroo Point

A Sunday session where you don’t have to battle through the hangover while being productive? Yee-ha! Eagles Nest will be serving up cocktails and tapas on the rooftop from 3pm, as is their jam.

Bloodhound Bar

Fortitude Valley

If you don’t make it to Hopfields at Bloodhound Bar, don’t worry, you can grab yourself a brew and a taco on Monday because this Fortitude Valley newbie is open from from 12 to late.

Aquitaine

River Quay at South Bank

Open for lunch and dinner, Francophile fave Aquitaine is a damn good option for a long weekend meal in our eyes. Make a booking so you don’t miss out.

Lock ‘n’ Load

West End

West End institution Lock ‘n’ Load will be showcasing their new brekky menu—which launches 2nd October—and kicking on all day this Monday.

Green Beacon Brewing Co.

Teneriffe

One of our fave spots for a casual pint and catch up, Green Beacon, will be open and serving up the brews as usual on Monday. Grab a bite to eat from Urban List fave, Pizzantica, who'll be pulling up to serve up their delicious Napoli pie.

Little Loco

New Farm

Brunch, breakfast, lunch. Whatever you are looking for, Little Loco are dishing it up as normal on Monday.

New Farm Deli’s Long Lunch in a Little Village

Merthyr Village

Obviously not a restaurant but if you are looking for something cool to do on Monday, head to Merthyr Village for a genuine Italian celebration in the form of the best kind of lunch—a long one! New Farm Deli will be putting on this magnificent feast (for a good cause too) so you know it’s going to be a goodie! Tickets are $130 or tables of 8 for $1000. Hello, Peroni and aperitivo!

The New Inchcolm Hotel

Spring Hill

Treat yo’ self to a classy dinner at Thomson’s Reserve, or a cheeky cocktail at Socialite’s Bar. Both will be open as normal on Monday.

Dutch Courage Officer’s Mess

Fortitude Valley

Closed as usual on Monday, Dutch Courage will be open as usual on Saturday and Sunday into the wee hours for some of the best cocktails this side of the equator.

Canvas

Woolloongabba

Celebrate the long weekend at Canvas on Sunday night before they also take a much-deserved break on Monday.

The Morrison

Woolloongabba

Steak and whisky for your relaxing pleasure, Brisbane? Head to Brisbane’s best steak pub the Morrison Hotel—they’ll be open as normal for lunch and dinner.

Archive and Loft

West End

Craft beer haunt Archive and its uptown/upstairs sister Loft will both be open for a cheeky Monday pint or cocktail.

Scout

Petrie Terrace

Intrepid brunchers, Scout will be open from 7am to 4pm serving up their usual delicious fare.

Hops Scotch & Beans

Petrie Terrace

Hops Scotch & Beans is having a big party for the NRL grand final (can we cheer on both the Broncos and the Cowboys?) so they’ll be open for breakfast only on Monday.

The Fox Hotel

South Brisbane

Open for normal business, The Fox is party central with plenty going on. Our tip is Dandy’s Rooftop for good times with a view.

Thyme2

Brisbane CBD

Stuff yourself at the most gourmet buffet in town on Monday because Thyme2 is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Regatta

Toowong

Ol’ faithful west-side pub, Regatta, will be open as normal all weekend including Monday.

The Wickham

Fortitude Valley

The Wickham is open all weekend, including Monday so head down for a pint in the beer garden.

Pearl

Woolloongabba

Head to Pearl Café on Monday for breakfast or lunch, you won’t regret it.

Bavarian Bier Café

Eagle Street

Pork knuckles, steins and Oktoberfest in full swing, Bavarian Bier Café is your jam for a good German time all weekend. Prost!

Sake

Eagle Street

Brisbane’s best Japanese, Sake, is open this Monday so we’ll see you there for some sake bombs!

5 Boroughs

Stones Corner

A New York state of mind’s waiting for you at 5 Boroughs, where they’re dishing up all the Big Apple-inspired street food you can eat from 12pm to 8pm.

Watt and New Farmer’s Kitchen

New Farm

Bar Alto may be closed Mondays but New Farmer’s Kitchen is reppin’ at the Powerhouse, serving up their usual casual fare, and riverside views.
