It’s that time of year again. Ekka Wednesday is nearly here, which means you’re probably about to spend the public holiday that the good gods of the Royal Queensland Show have bestowed upon us in one of three ways.
One: You’re going to be struggling to move after one (or seven) too many rum and cokes at The Jubilee Hotel the night before, and trying your best to forget (or perhaps remember) your attempt at riding the mechanical bull wearing a stolen cowboy hat.
Two: You’re going to be attempting to fight your way through the Ekka crowds on People’s Day, and tick off every single food item you’ve waited a whole year to eat, no matter how full you get.
Three: You’ve forgotten that last year you lost your shoes and lost 100 bucks on a horse whose name you couldn’t pronounce, and have opted to go to the Ekka Races… again.
But no matter which option you choose, food is non-negotiable, so we’ve put together a list of places that will be open next Wednesday to satisfy your needs. Here is what’s open on the Ekka public holiday in Brisbane.
