There’s some drinks that you just shouldn’t mess with. Top of that list is the classic Gin and Tonic; a combination so perfect that even my granny has been known to indulge a few times a year. Whether you're camp cucumber or camp lime wedge, a crisp G&T is the stuff of your botanical dreams.

We’ve put in the hard yards to track down the best Brisbane bars serving up a top notch G&T.

John Mills Himself

CBD

Secret CBD gem, John Mills Himself is all about sourcing local ingredients, and their gin selection is an ode to some of Australia’s best distillers. Top of the gin roll call is Lilli Pilli Gin sourced from Tambourine Mountain distillery, Ink Dry Gin from Husk Distillery in NSW and William McHenry and Sons famous sloe gin from Tasmania which all happen to make stellar G&Ts.

Libertine

Paddington

Beautiful restaurant Libertine’s vine-covered outdoor area is just made for sipping gin under the stars on a hot night. They mix a perfectly traditional G&T with options including London Dry Gin and Hendricks from Scotland. Gin lovers can also indulge in the gin cocktail to end all gin cocktails: the Libertini with a hint of peach, lemon and grapefruit. Divine.

Dutch Courage Officer’s Mess

Fortitude Valley

There are over 100 types of gin at Dutch Courage in the Valley, so feel free to be entirely picky and select the best concoction for your G&T-loving palate.

BOSC

West End

West End face BOSC have all the gin cocktails you could ever wish for, and traditionalists can have their G&Ts mixed with a selection of great quality gins including  Plymouth Sloe Gin, The Melbourne Gin Company and The Botanist Gin to name a few outstanding options.

Canvas

Woolloongabba

We love Canvas in Woolloongabba for their way with cocktail names (Dumbledore’s Tour and Fresh Prince of Bombay are firm favourites, for obvious reasons). We also love their way with a G&T-laced with cucumber and served up fresh on a hot Brisbane afternoon. Bliss.

Fitz + Potts

Nundah

Nundah rooftop local Fitz + Potts prove they can nail anything from a stellar craft beer selection to an on point vegan menu, so it stands to reason that they serve up a fine G&T. We love that they stock local distillers, Ink Dry Gin, for a super smooth taste.

If a classic cocktail is totally up your alley, then check out where to get an Aperol Spritz in Brisbane.
