Mondo Organics Restaurant in West End, Brisbane was Australia's first licensed organic restaurant to open in 2000. The Mondo concept was inspired by a growing concern about the preservatives, chemicals, and additives used to produce our food.
Owner's Brenda Fawdon and Sonja Drexler are more driven than ever to deliver bistro style menu's, featuring the freshest local organic produce, sustainable seafood, and ethical meats. Flavours here are distinctive and delicious. Sourcing organic produce from Mount Tamborine has become part of the Mondo way, as Brenda now lives on the mountain.
Mondo has a tranquil feel, incorporating natural timbers, designer recycled cardboard lampshades, recycled timber shutters, and a volcanic rock fountain.
Open for breakfast only on the weekends, bookings are strongly recommended. If you're feeling particularly hungry the shared long plates for lunch or dinner are delicious and damn good value. If you want to learn the tricks of the trade, then book in to Mondo cooking school to skill up.
