When it comes to shopping essentials, we can always make room in our cart (and budget) for some new activewear. And if said new threads happen to come from Brisbane-based label Active Truth, then it’s really a no brainer—we’re buying.

As if our love for the activewear legends couldn’t get any greater (their power crop top is a game-changer) they’ve just dropped a brand new, limited edition collab with indigenous artist Bobbi Lockyer.

The new range, entitled Brolga, features high-waisted leggings in four lengths, as well as bike shorts and a crop top (plus there’s options for pregnant women)—all of which boast a beautiful hand-painted print by Lockyer.

Lockyer, a proud Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru woman, says the painting was inspired by the strong women in her life.

"Brolgas are one of Australia's most iconic birds and known for their beautiful dance and movement. Many traditional Aboriginal dances are associated with the Brolga and use movements that mirror their graceful performances,” she says.

“In our Dreaming about Brolga, she was a beautiful girl obsessed with dancing. Dancing was
her only love and nothing distracted her.”

“I like to think of Brolga as a headstrong woman, passionate and determined, going for her dreams. This is why I chose to paint brolga feathers for this design, to symbolise women; with our strengths, passions and going for our dreams.”

Adding to the personal touch of this stunning collab, The Brogla campaign was shot by Lockyer herself on the Kariyarra red dust and salt flats of her hometown, Port Hedland in WA with the designs even modeled by some of her girlfriends.

Active Truth co-founder Nadia Tucker says the collab was all about women lifting up other women, “Our purpose is to celebrate all women—to inspire them to live their best life and this collaboration is a crucial part of that, helping to amplify the voices and showcasing the art of our First Nation’s women.”

In conjunction with the launch of their new range, Active Truth is also now offering customers the opportunity to include their traditional place names when entering their address through the ordering process. We dig that!

Sizes in the range run from XS to 3XL with a 30 day returns policy. Even better there’s free express shipping and exchanges worldwide on all orders. Always.
