things to do on the gold coast this weekend

Get ready, Gold Coast! This weekend is looking like another big one. From flicks under the stars, to champagne trams and kite festivals, it’s all happening. Here are eight awesome things to do on the Gold Coast this weekend. You ready?

All Weekend Long

American Express Openair Cinemas

The American Express Openair Cinemas launches their season with a bang this weekend. Get ready for delicious Italian eats provided by Salt Meats Cheese, craft beers from 4Pines, Giesen Wines and, of course, some of the best flicks of the year. We've already bought our tickets for Logan Lucky, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Big Sick, Battle of the Sexes and Blade Runner 2049, so get yours now before they sell out!

Gold Coast 600

If you’ve not cruised through Main Beach and Surfers recently, you will have missed watching the racetrack being erected in preparation for the turbo-charged Gold Coast 600! Been before and already know what it’s all about? Well, perhaps this year you might be tempted to mosh to impressive muso headliners at Broadwater Sounds including The Hilltop Hoods and Violent Soho, or if electronic is more your groove, hit up Club 600, an 18+ day club with some hot minx female DJs set to steal the show from the noisy V8 supercars. Two-day trackside and party passes start at $115 per person.

When: Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October
Where: Surfers Paradise
Cost: One-day passes start at $50 and three-day passes start at $120

Chandon S Chic Easy Tram

We’ll take our bubbly anywhere we can get it. So when we heard Chandon were quite literally rolling into town to serve us up the good stuff with a delicious twist, it definitely got our attention. Hitting the Gold Coast this weekend, the Chandon S Chic Easy is a 2017 take on the traditional speakeasy, but wait for it—all the fun will be going down in a restored W Class tram from the good ol’ days of 1925. Serving up bubbly cocktails with a touch of hand-crafted orange bitters (think aperitif) this is the ultimate in booze, fun and (the best part) activities. You’ll learn how to bake bread at the traditional French boulangerie workshop, pair your bites with your booze and (most importantly) make a kickass cocktail, all whilst living your most magnifique life.

When: Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 October; 11am to 5pm
Where: Pratten Park, Broadbeach
Cost: $45+ BF

Surfing World Magazine Film Premier | Scary Good

Waves sliders, we’re looking at you. When Surfing World Magazine releases a new documentary and cruises into town to share it with you personally well, you go. Scary Good puts the spotlight on a swag of inspiring surfers who are equally talented musically, throwing them together in a remote location for 10 days to surf their brains out. What could go wrong? If you weren’t already frothing, expect live performances from Cloacas and WASH. #livingthedream
