Amidst the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast, there are many things that require us to make some seriously informed decisions. Much like where on Earth to go for breakfast when, perhaps, you don’t want avo on toast.
These days avocados are becoming somewhat an artwork on a plate, and for a portion of the local brunch crowd, we just can’t keep up. We want authentic and original. We want something hearty and filling. We want options that simply won’t break the bank.
Here at The Urban List, sometimes we simply want jaffles, and that’s why we’ve brought you nine of the best jaffles on the Gold Coast. Happy eating!
Spikexx Espresso
Palm Beach
Whatever mood you’re in, you know you can’t go wrong with the good ol’ Spag Bol Jaffle or the Get Baked (that is, baked beans and Swiss cheese) from Spikexx. This Palm Beach favourite boasts an eccentric interior with stained-glass windows, Jimi Hendrix wall murals and serves easily some of the best jaffles on the Gold Coast.
All-Time Espresso
Mermaid Beach
If you came for one of their decadent vegan doughnuts or your morning coffee fix, think again. You simply can’t look past All-Time’s not-so-humble jaffles. Serving up BBQ pulled pork, cheese and spicy jalapeno jaffles or their baked bean, cheese and chilli flake jaffle; are these are some of the best jaffles on the Gold Coast? You betcha!
Randy Wallhole
Southport
A northern Gold Coast favourite, locals really do have something to be proud of in Southport’s characterful Randy Wallhole. Try the Mum’s Special with Heinz spaghetti, cheese and pepper or the NWA with vegemite and/or peanut butter and cheese—it has us hooked.
Sparrow Eating House
Nobby Beach
Sparrow Eating House hit the nail on the head every time, but it’s their puff pastry dessert Banoffee Jaffle that has us in serious awe. A delicious fusion of crunchy pastry, an oozing banana centre and salted caramel sauce, there would be a revolt if this signature dish ever left the menu.
Good Day Coffee
Tugun
A southern Gold Coast favourite, Tugun’s Good Day Coffee boasts one seriously good toastie—smoked ham with mushroom and triple cheese. Because when has anyone said no to triple cheese?!
The Sandwich Bros
Surfers Paradise
Hold up GC, we’ve found a top-notch reason to head into the tourist strip, ‘cause this lasagna jaffle will blow your mind. That’s right, each Tuesday The Sandwich Bros in Surfers Paradise dish up their best jaffle, including the notorious lasagna special. Swoon!
