Ok deep breathes ‘cause we’re just a teeny bit excited that one of our fave breweries on the Coast, Black Hops Brewing Co, is set to open a new site later this year. And in even better news for beer lovers, the new space is freakin’ huge, which means more space for more beer and more catch ups with mates. We’re pumped, can you tell?
The new venue is located in Biggera Waters which will be music to the ears of Northern Gold Coasters who no longer need to make the trip to their Burleigh HQ to taste Black Hops award-winning beers—remember these guys recently took out the gong of Champion Small Australian Brewery at the AIBAs AKA the Oscars of the booze world.
If you need a little refresher on Black Hops’ awesome rise to fame, let us remind you. Three best mates Eddie Oldfield, Dan Norris, and seasoned brewer Michael (Govs) McGovern first teamed up for a bit of fun in late 2014, their first cooperative brew, the Eggnog Stout was a surprisingly tasty success. Black Hops was ultimately born and the progress has been swift yet meticulous.
In the two short years since inception, their Gold Coast-inspired brews have been pouring in craft beer bars up and down the coast in the likes of Ze Pickle, Lester and Earl, Cambus Wallace, Bine, Not Tonight, and Surfers Sandbar.
While the gang only just got the keys, we’re told Black Hops II will feature a taproom for tasting—YAS—and a huge beer factory which can only mean one thing, more booze!
Cheers!
Stay tuned for an inside look.
