Here at The Urban List, our hearts collectively broke when thousands of strawberry crops perished in the wake of the needle scandal. Seeing so many hard-working farmers and their families losing their income brought out the best in our nation will loads of businesses doing their bit to help out. And because we Coasters are such a big-hearted bunch it shouldn’t surprise you that the good folk at the NightQuarter are stepping up and doing their part, in a really big way.
They’re famous for serving up some of the best street food, cocktails and live music on the Coast and this weekend is no different, with the exception that the entire market will be tinged with red. Get pumped GC, we’re getting our very own strawberry festival.
Teaming up with the Strawberry Association and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Queensland, the Helensvale market are raising much needed funds for our farmers.
There will be farm fresh pop up stalls from local strawberry farmers celebrating the sweetest things in life and wowing you with the deliciously different ways you can enjoy strawberries.
The entire precinct has gone berry mad with offerings such as strawberry ice-cream, funnel cakes, sodas, milkshakes, strawberry and Nutella toasties, pizzas, salads, scones, strawberry jam doughnuts, chocolate covered strawberries and berry-licious cocktails at the bars. And seriously, that’s only the beginning.
The team expect to raise $5000 to provide directly to the Queensland Strawberry Farmers Association. There will charity buckets to donate to as well as 100% of sales proceeds from the pop ups at the front entry selling strawberries and strawberry products going towards the fundraiser.
There will also be live music throughout NightQuarter with soloist Emily Brieger in the Tapas Street micro-restaurant precinct, Three Piece Feed in The Backyard and a fabulous drag queen performance on the main stage by Justine Kace!
Good on Gold Coast, get stuffed with strawberries for a good cause.
