Sink A Beer At The Gold Coast’s Massive New Brewhouse

A barman pours a beer into a glass from a copper tap at a James Squire brewhouse.

The Gold Coast’s beer scene just went up a whole other level with the long-anticipated opening of the James Squire Brewhouse, The Lucky Squire.

The Lucky Squire is what craft beer-drinking dreams are made of. With an interior that mixes old-world charm with a bit of Gold Coast flair—think loads of timber, offset by accents of copper and zinc—this new Broadbeach brewhouse is big, beautiful and worth clearing your weekend for a visit.

A pint with a James Squire logo is filled with a freshly-poured beer.

Set over two levels with space to seat over 450 guzzling beer-drinkers at any one time, this is the newest spot to rally your mates together for an afternoon session spent sipping on fresh and exclusive craft beers made on-site in the microbrewery. With indoor and outdoor seating, as well as being split into a bar and restaurant, The Lucky Squire offers multiple areas to take advantage of depending on your mood.

Chasing a bit more privacy? The upstairs section is where you’ll find another bar and room for 150 more people in a cocktail-style dedicated function space—perfect for hiring out for that special occasion.

But, let’s get to what you really want to know about…the food and drink.

The Lucky Squire is the only spot on the Gold Coast to offer the full James Squire range on tap, which is ideal for big fans of the brews. But we’re most excited about the in-house microbrewery, which will enable an expert brewing team to experiment with styles, hops and malts to create unique beers that you’ll see hitting the taps here exclusively. How cool is that?!

For the non-beer drinkers, you should most definitely still tag along. There’s a hefty cocktail list, split 50/50 between timeless classics and playful, Gold Coast-inspired combinations. Plus, an extensive wine list featuring local and imported drops means if mum is your date, she’ll have no problems finding a vino she loves.

As with any good watering hole, The Lucky Squire dishes up nosh that is just as impressive as their drinks list. The menu is small but mighty and showcases local produce in a range of meals that pair perfectly with the James Squire core range (ask the waitstaff for any pairing tips!)
Graze on share plates, like buttermilk fried chicken wings or mushroom and truffle arancini balls, or go big with a pizza, burger or melt-in-your-mouth steak. Really, you can’t go wrong.

Putting giant ticks in all of the boxes, The Lucky Squire needs to be added to your Gold Coast hit list, stat.

Now open every day from 10am to 3am, if you’re chasing good beer, great food and fun times, the search stops here.

COVID-19 Note: The bar accepts walk-ins, while the restaurant is currently taking online bookings for 1-8 guests. The venue is currently limited to 80 people.
