Guys, can you believe it’s November already?  

While you may be considering hibernating in preparation for this month’s Schoolies apocalypse, there’s plenty of other cool shiza to do which doesn’t involve dodging school leavers on your early morning drive to work.

Check it out now, our funk soul brothers, here are our picks for the best things to do on the Gold Coast this November.

American Express Openair Cinema

Launching late last month and running for the better part of November, Gold Coast’s American Express Openair Cinema has a killer lineup of movies to watch under a starry sky in Coolangatta. And before it all starts, you’ll be welcomed by live music and DJs along the foreshore, can take part in a macrame workshop by Mo’s Desert Clubhouse’s own Emilia Lorena or get your flower crown skills up to scratch with Leilunaleis. Watch new release movies and chow down on Salt Meats Cheese’s famous flaming cheese wheel pasta, arancini antipasti and wood fired pizzas, then wash it all down with a tipple of 4Pines beer from the cocktail bar. Did we mention you can bring your puppy along to some sessions? Tickets are on sale now and start from $12.50. Um, is that cheaper than going to the cinema? Yes, yes it is.

BLANC de BLANC

BLANC de BLANC was such a hit earlier in the year that an encore round of champagne cabaret shows were in order. And after wild ticket sales yet again, they’ve extended another week. Hurrah! Wrapping up on Sunday 12 November, the ravishing Spiegeltent that has called the Broadwater Parklands home for the last month will be rolling out of town once more. So, if you haven’t checked out the all singing-dancing-acrobatic comedy theatre, move your butt and book a last minute ticket!

Hotelling

Ever wanted to swagger your way into a Penthouse party? Well, now is your chance with this year’s installment of Hotelling. Set in the luxurious Peppers Soul penthouse, you can expect a supper affair unlike any other. Catered by hatted restaurant Seaduction and combining theatre experiences, including drinks in each of the three performance spaces and a wine list to trickle indulgently through your evening, put on your fancy pants and head to one of the most intriguing events on the Gold Coast this November.

Seinfeld Trivia

Are these pretzels making you thirsty, too? Then head down to Beach Burrito in Cooly for a challenging night of Seinfeld Trivia and your chance to take out the title, scoring a $100 bar tab. Wear your favourite puffy shirt, get your pants outta the oven and gorge on Mexican food and cocktail specials all night long. Not a fan of the Elaine shuffle? Perhaps Game of Thrones is more up your alley (November 8), a Ross and Rach love affair at Friends Trivia (November 22) and finally find out who killed Kenny at South Park Trivia (November 29).

The Stubbies Exhibition At Surf World

The inaugural Stubbies Classic Surfriding competition is celebrating its 40th birthday. So naturally, Surf World are putting on an exhibit filled with nostalgic memorabilia and a good old fashioned BBQ. Launching the first ever showing of the Stubbies Years movie, a huuuuge photo collection and a slideshow of other fun stuff, get in at 6pm for a 7pm start.

World Vegan Day

Herbavores, this one’s for you. While World Vegan Day has fallen on a weekday this year, Burleigh is giving you a big ol’ high five with a banana palm and chucking a food fest on Friday. Your fave enviro-warriors at Eco Markets have teamed with Coast to Coast Animal Friends to bring you an evening of plant-based food, fun and furry friends.

Crafted Beer & Cider Festival

Guys, finally the Crafted Beer & Cider Festival is here! Showcasing the excellence of local Gold Coast, South East Queensland and brewers across the border, kick off your Saturday arvo with all things beer and cider in Broadbeach. The biggest beer appreciation event ever to hit the Coast, taste your way around 20+ of the best breweries pouring 100+ different brews, graze with gourmet food trucks, kick back to live tunes and cheers your mates to making one of the best decisions this November. Gold Coast Open House

Buildings here, buildings there, we see buildings everywhere. That Insta perfect Gold Coast skyline has a lot of buildings to thank for it. So, why not go and visit a few to personally thank in person? For the third year running, Gold Coast Open House will unlock the doors to 40 buildings, places and spaces spanning right across our beautiful city. From heritage buildings to newly erected Commonwealth Games venues and everything in between. A free urban day out makes a top notch option on our list of things to do on the Gold Coast this November.

Melbourne Cup Day

Put in your midweek ‘surprise’ sick day well in advance and head along to one of many Melbourne Cup Day soirees on the Gold Coast this November. With so many epic parties happening right across the Coast, you’ll wanna give this rundown a scroll and book in fast.

Bonjour GC French Festival 

Come along and take part in the Guinness World Record attempt for the most amount of people wearing a Beret in a French atmosphere at this year’s Bonjour GC French Festival. Yes, it’s a real thing and the number to beat is 2,500—if you were wondering. You can even score yourself a complimentary Beret on entry when you book online, put that in your bread bag and blaze it. Held over three days, the Bonjour GC French Festival is all about French cuisine, arts, crafts, history and music. Oui oui! Jump your little frog legs over to one of the most cultural things to do on the Gold Coast this November. C’mon, we reckon everyone should escargot.

The Global Yacht Party II

Yoho sailors, check out this Ibiza-style floating day party on a two-storey yacht. Don your best Geordie Shore outfit (LOLJK) and bounce to house tracks from the mid 2000’s onwards, all while scooting around Marina Mirage and the Broadwater. With the dress code noted as ‘sunset attire’ (AKA leave your thongs at home) you just know the Global Yacht Party is going to be a hoot.

Drag Queen Bingo At Marketta

After a successful round numero uno, Drag Queen Bingo is back! Raising money for the ‘Yes Equality’ campaign, you’ll be entertained by fabulous emcee, Alexis Diamond, get amongst a game of bingo and try your luck at winning a noteworthy prize or two. Move your booty and get to it, with tickets selling fast.

Mullum Music Festival 

Held over three big days of groovy lovin’, The Mullum Music Festival is backing up for its ninth year of festival wildness.  Opening the towns halls, parks, cafes, clubs and pubs to a whole gang of musos, locals and YOU, wander your way through the town’s friendly streets and get up close and personal with performers between drinks. With a hat tip from The Rolling Stone, you know this November’s Mullum Music Fest is worth venturing into our southern neighbour’s backyard for.

When: Thursday 16 to Sunday 18 November; times range from 8am ‘til midnight

Coming Into Fashion At Arts Centre Gold Coast

Fashionistas, here’s a highlight for your summer. Conde Nast, yes, the publisher of big name magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair is welcoming you into their vault of photography from throughout the ages for Coming Into Fashion. Spanning back to the 1700s and zooming right up until the 20th century, this is an exhibition about all things fashun and your trendy mates won’t know what’s hit them when you take them along.

Australian PGA Championships

Golfers, start your buggies! This year’s Australian PGA Championships are bringing you some rad new events to fill in the time between when people hit their balls and then chase them. Think, tournament festival. Reckon you can make a hole in one? Well it sure is worth a shot if last year’s $500,000 prize is anything to go by. With a tournament village vibe promised for those who attend (keep your eye on the website for event announcements), it’s all systems go at this year’s biggest putt putt party.

Gin & Jazz At The Island Rooftop

Want an excuse to get out and drink gin under the stars? Well, now you have one for every Thursday at Gin and Jazz on The Island Rooftop. You had us at gin, but if you must know, you’ll also enjoy jazzy live music by Tonic and southern-inspired food served all night long. So much yas, we cannot deal.

Sideshow At Arts Centre Gold Coast

Running right through November, Sideshow is taking over Friday and Saturday nights to bring you edgy productions at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. With a cocktail, whisky or wine in each hand, nibble on tapas-style eats while you watch a sumptuous array of hilarious, seductive and thrilling acts throughout November. On the roster for November, The 27 Club features haunting arrangements in ode to rockstars passed, Up Late will have you giggling to comedy and cheering to burlesque while Ruby Slipper Chronicles cheekily reinvents The Wizard of Oz, plus so many more.
