As far as burger joints go, this place oozes cool. From the gangsta rappers staring back at you from the walls, upbeat styling, laidback staff, funky tunes and the not too dark, not too bright lighting, they’ve successfully managed to recreate a slice of Byron Bay (where it originated) right here in Broadbeach.
When we visited Main Street Burger Bar, there were longhaired, sun kissed surfer dudes devouring burgers next to office workers who were throwing down knock-off brews and chews, with visiting families chilling out in the booths. Broady has always had a nice intermingling of tourists and locals, and it’s easy to see why Main Street Burger Bar is a magnate for both.
While their all-time best seller is the mighty Main Street Beef (100% grass fed beef pattie, caramalised onion, double smoked bacon, cheese, housemade BBQ sauce, garlic mayo, tomato and lettuce), we are simply salivating reading our way through the rest of the menu. Fanatical burger fan or not, you can’t help but visualise the eye-rolling moments you’ll have when wrapping your lips around a Teriyaki Fish burger (with coconut crumbed local fish — COCONUT CRUMBED, guys!) or the Troppo Chook with chicken tenderloins crispy fried, double smoked bacon and house made pineapple relish. We know right, it all sounds bloody delightful, eh? But the fun doesn't end there, with craft beers on tap, hand crafted sodas and drool-worthy boozy milkshakes rounding out the menu.
