We’re over the hump guys. It’s almost that time again—time to begin planning your epic weekend. As per usual, we’ve got the perfect list of things to do in and around Melbourne over the next few days. A little bit of food, a little bit of wine and a whole lotta good times.

Here’s everything you need to be doing this weekend in Melbourne.

All Weekend

Good Food And Wine Show

We’ve been talking about it a lot, but The Good Food and Wine Show is FINALLY here.  The name is ridiculously appropriate, especially this year. You can expect to see revolutionary wine products like wine ice cream at the Vinomofo Adventure Park, along with tasting masterclasses with the finest reds in all the land. Whether you’re shakin’ it up like a pro at a cocktail class, or chilling at the Taittinger Champagne & Oyster Bar, this place will live up to every adult’s food and wine fantasies. Leave the skinny jeans at home.

Blind guides will lead you through total darkness, teaching you how to interact in a world without images. You’ll have to rely on all your other senses, including the sixth one: don’t-stub-your-toe. After 25 years and over 10 million visitors, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is finally here. See you there (or not).

Sustainable fashion is totally in right now, so building a wardrobe filled with staple pieces that can be reworked and upcycled is pretty darn important. This week of events will encourage discussion around sustainable fashion and provide tips for getting creative with your wardrobe staples. Get your ticket ASAP.

My Native Heart Exhibition

Flowers have this weird way of making us feel all happy and pretty inside. If that’s you, get yourself down to Louise Seymour’s new floral exhibition My Native Heart at the Japanese Consulate. Her floral paper art has major wow factor, and it comes scent-free (for all those allergy sufferers out there). Waratah, protea or bottebrush—whatever bloom you’re into, chances are good that Seymour has recreated it in paper form. If you’re feeling inspired after checking out her stuff, head along to her workshop on 8 June and get craft with a hands-on paper flower class.

Winemakers from all around Victoria are heading to Cumulus Up this Saturday. Why you ask? The City Cellar Door Series has come to town, that’s why! Winemakers from Heathcote will be taking over Cumulus Up this weekend in an effort to tantalize your best wine tasting buds. Best of all, the wine is FREE. Yep, free wine tasting is happening this Saturday. Troy Wheeler from Meatsmith will also be there, roasting a whole pig and turning it into pork sandwiches (because nothing goes with a good pinot better than a pork sando). The wine is free, the pig is not.

Let’s get ready to rumble. Extreme Knitting has made it to Melbourne, which is basically like normal knitting, just with huge, oversize wooden needles. This masterclass will have you feeling like a knitting pro (and leave all your mates feeling like they totally wasted their weekend). It’s the perfect winter craft because it requires zero experience. By the end of the session, you’ll have made your very own merino wool throw blanket, even if you have no idea what the phrase ‘knit one, pearl two’ really means. Go make Nan proud and celebrate with a little handmade goodness.

Wild Turkey Cocktails And Southern Menu At Penny Black

Penny Black is heading south this month with a southern-inspired menu that’s embracing all things Wild Turkey—plus there are a few cocktails to match. When it comes to food, you’ll want to order the Wild Turkey burger—a spiced turkey burger (appropriate), with cranberry and golden raisin relish with Wild Turkey bourbon glaze on a milk bun. The main event is obviously the selection of signature cocktails—they’re all delicious, FYI. There’s the Kentucky Firebird (which is just as extreme as it sounds), the Wild Turkey gold rush (with fresh lemon juice and honey), and the classic Wild Turkey and apple. Cheers!

When: Fridays 2, 9, 16 & 23 June
Where: Penny Black

Oh yeah, pencil 6pm - 7pm tomorrow night into the diary. Lukumades are giving away FREE boxes of Greek doughnuts.
