Clear your calendar guys because Melbourne is putting an absolute stunner of a weekend for us! Taste of Melbourne is kicking off, we’ve got an Ultimate Fried Chicken Party and Australia’s original gin festival is returning! Buckle up guys, its going to be a big one.

Here are 13 awesome things to do in Melbourne this weekend:

All Weekend

Taste of Melbourne

This has got to be one of our top summer events this year! Amazingly fresh food, delicious drinks, fresh produce and some top-class kitchen talent are coming together in the open aired ground of Albert Park for a four day long foodie paradise! The Taste of Melbourne’s final restaurant lineup is out now and boy oh boy it does not disappoint. David Hockney @ NGV

Indulge your cultural side this weekend and head to the opening of the David Hockney exhibition at the NGV. ‘David Hockney: Current’ is curated by the NGV in collaboration with David Hockney and his studio feature over 700 works from the past decade of the artist’s career. The collection of paintings, digital drawings, photography and video works includes many pieces never before seen in Australia. Check out all the details and grab your tickets here.

Cheese and Wine Food Truck Festival

Food trucks and wine, does it really get any better? This weekend Melbourne’s favourite cheesy food trucks will be rolling out at the Preston Food Truck Park to pair their signature dishes with specialty wines in a three day long, gourmet foodie event! Knox Food Truck Carnival

This Sunday is the inaugural Knox Food Truck Carnival at the Caribbean Gardens and Market. All weekend some of Melbourne’s best food trucks will be serving up tasty treats and fancy feasts from around the world. Friday 11th

Corner Hotel Rooftop Relaunch

Good things come to those who wait and man oh man have we waited. This Friday the Corner Hotel will be reopening its rooftop area just in time for all your summertime soirees! The newly renovated rooftop comes complete with a new DJ booth to keep the tunes pumping while the rooftop BBQ grills up some quality grub. Head to the Corner rooftop this Friday for some celebratory drinks specials while some of Melbourne’s best jump behind the decks to give you a sweet summer soundtrack!

Harajuku Pop Up Party

This Friday night only Saké Restaurant & Bar are transforming their downstairs bar into a Harajuku Wonderland! Head down to Flinders Lane for a night of cocktails, awesome food, snazzy costumes and beats provided by some of Melbourne's top DJ's. You can snag a ticket here for $30 and that gets you entry, a complimentary cocktail plus some of Saké's signature bites! See you there!

Saturday 12th

Melbourne 47

M47 is the probably the most ‘Melbourne’ event we’ve got on this weekend! Kicking off this Saturday (and running until December 12th), M47 is a series of performances around the city that celebrate the people, history, culture and life of Melbourne. There are heaps of shows on throughout the month, some in well-known sites, some in hidden laneways, some serious and some lighthearted! Frosé

Frosé is quickly becoming the most popular summer drink in town and now you can get your Frosé fix at Good Things every Saturday! Sunday 13th

Glamorama Sundays Presents: Three Shapes

Have you ever gotten to Sunday night and just not wanted the weekend to be over? (So like every weekend ever?) Never fear because Glamorama have you covered! Three Shapes is a monthly event full of lush, funky summer beats for those of you who don’t want the weekend to end just yet! Resident DJs Steezy-E, Breezy and Mensch will be joined by a host of the best local talent on offer to keep the tunes pumping until 3 in the am! Check out all the details here!

Ultimate Fried Chicken Party

Everything is better with fried chicken! This Sunday night Belle’s Hot Chicken are hosting a five-dish family-style fried chicken feast! Kicking off at 6:30, you’ll be treated to dishes like Chongqing chicken wings, Chicken & Waffles and even a Chick-fil-A American-style biscuit stuffed with fried chicken (plus Belle’s classic hot fried chicken that we so love). Tickets start at $66 per person for five courses and you can grab yours here!

Eureka Climb

Always fantastised about sprinting up the 88 floors of the Eureka Tower? Yeah us neither… but its for charity so why not give it a go (you can totally walk it by the way)! This Sunday you can participate in the annual Eureka Climb with all the money you raise going to charity (Interplast and Whitelion). Polish Festival

Head down to Fed Square this Sunday and get transported to the historical town squares of Europe. From 10am the Polish Festival will showcase Poland’s traditional song, dance, merchandise and, of course, culinary delights! Juniperlooza

The only place to snag some gin sorbet - Australia’s original gin festival is returning this November! Running over one massive weekend on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November, every gin producer will be showcasing a classic gin and tonic plus a signature gin-inspired cocktail.
