things to do in melbourne

The hay fever may be running rampant this year (damn you allergies!) but that doesn’t have to stop you from enjoying all that Melbourne has to offer this weekend! The Big Chicken Festival has finally arrived, Juniperlooza is back in action and the Corner Hotel are celebrating their 20th birthday! So pop some antihistamine and get out there!

Here are 13 awesome things to do in Melbourne this weekend:

All Weekend

If you haven’t snagged tickets to Australia’s original gin festival, what are you doing?! Hosted by Riverland and Pilgrim Bar, soak up some sun at Juniperlooza this weekend. One of the biggest events of summer promises live DJs, dedicated gin Q&A sessions and a gin selection from your dreams. Tickets available here.

The Big Chicken Festival

Get your bibs ready because it’s finally here. The Food Truck Park’s inaugural Big Chicken Festival will be opening its doors this Friday and serving up some finger lickin’ goodness. The three-day festival will feature some of Melbourne’s cluckiest trucks with the biggest names in chicken flocking down to Preston for the event. You can check out the full lineup and all the info here!

Brown Brothers Spring Wine & Food Festival

This weekend Brown Brothers are putting on their 30th annual Spring Wine & Food Festival. In association with Wines of the King Valley’s La Dolce Vita Festival, Brown Brothers are bringing us a weekend of gourmet food, live music and entertainment, festival activities and, of course, lots of wine. There will be some featured events (catered lunches and dinners) but if you can’t make those then don’t stress because there are heaps of other festival goodies to get you through, including pop-up bars, stalls and restaurants. Tickets are $20 (kids get in for free!) and you can purchase yours, and check out the featured events, here.

The Red Project

This weekend only The Red Hill Brewery are rolling out some red beers that they’ve brewed for this year's season (yeah, they’re actually red too!). Head down to Red Hill this weekend to try all ten brews and tuck into some slow southern style BBQ (think pulled pork, beef ribs, slaw, mac n cheese and chilli beans). Plus get decked out in red for a chance to win spot prizes! No bookings needed.

Melbourne Night Noodle Market

The Night Noodle Market is in full swing and if you haven’t been down yet you seriously need to! Open every night, the market is always abuzz with the sights, sounds and smells of a huge outdoor Asian hawker market. The market features over 30 food stalls, including some returning favourites like Mr. Miyagi, Sake, Wonderbao and Gelato Messina. The market closes up on the 27th of November so you still have a bit of time to check it out. You can find all the info here.

Design Anarchy

Christmas shoppers rejoice! This weekend The Design Anarchy are bringing together some of the most talented designers, artists, design retailers and makers in Melbourne for a three-day event. With a strong focus on ethically made and local brands, The Design Anarchy will offer a diverse range of products and stalls as well as creative workshops, live music, an animal farm for kids and food and beverages. Admission is only $2 and kids get in for free. Check out all the info here.

Styling Workshop With Emma Blomfield

United Interiors are putting on an awesome live styling demo this Thursday with special guest Emma Blomfield!
