Annnnndd, just like that the weekend is back and in our arms. Take a moment to rejoice because this weekend is going to be delicious, fun and predominately French tasting.

There’ll be plenty on offer so expect too see multiple Bastille Day celebrations alongside some Scandinavians showcasing their best films and perhaps even some cool pop up shops. Sounds fun right? Of course it does because as per usual we have combined the perfect list of things to do this weekend in Melbourne.

Carryology Pop Up Store Closing Down Sale

Goodbyes can be hard, but it’s always a lot easier when there are cheap practical bags on sale. The Carryology Concept Store on Smith Street is closing down (sad) and they are bringing you one final hoorah. There will be up to 40% off for their final weekend in Melbourne and you need to get yourself some seriously practically baggage.

Scandinavian Film Festival

The Scandinavian film festival kicks of this week and we’re in luck because it’s running all weekend. Melbournians expect to be enveloped by the Nordic region and indulged with some of the most insane films exploring everything from love to drama. Norways matofficial selection for the 2017 academy awards, Tom of Finland will be showing so it’s kind of a big deal. Check out the program for more deets and just know this Nordic celebration is not to be missed.

Finders Keepers Market

Melbournians are honestly blessed with some of the greatest markets on the planet and this one is no exception. The beloved finders keepers market is back on this weekend and it’s going to be designer central.  There will be over 250 independent art and design stalls showcasing their goods and there’ll be plenty of food and drink to keep those fashion hearts alive. Oh and there is live music so it’s basically a seriously cool weekend market party, why not go along?

Mini Golf O Rama At Howler

Howler is back at it again with their genius creations, this time with their second annual Mini Golf O Rama. The band room will be the new home for the custom build golf course and there’ll be windmills and all, so bring your best putter.  All you gotta do is purchase a beer and your round on the course is free of charge. BOO YAH.

Balgownie Estate Bastille Day

It wouldn’t be a Bastille Day Celebration without a six-course degustation to satisfy your taste buds now would it? Of course not, that is why Bendigo’s Balgownie Estate are doing just that. Their insanely delish menu will resemble unique French style cooking (think freshly shucked oysters) and will be paired alongside matching wines that will have you feeling like a local Frenchman (or woman) in no time. Syracuse Bastille Day

This 20-year-old Melbourne establishment is producing only the best for this weekend’s Bastille celebrations. Syracuse Restaurant serves up the ultimate European vibes with its high ceilings and antique furniture and this weekend is no exception. Their Head Chef Phillipa Sibley has created a special menu of sustainable ingredients and there is panna cotta on offer so you’re pretty much gurantteed greatness. Eureka 89 Celebrate Bastille Day

Ah yes, yet another Bastille Celebration but hey we aren’t complaining. The more French food, the better. This evening will be filled with French inspired cocktails and delicious light canapés prepared by Executive Chef Renee Martillano and French Pastry Chef Julie Mainard. Australian photographer Wren Steiner is bringing you his collection of work from his latest exhibition, Bare. The Fox Galley and Darkroom in Kensington will be transformed by Steiner’s insane work of intimate and provocative photographs into human vulnerability. Steiner wants you to get in touch with your thinking side and really redefine the association of yourself and others. Get ready for some deep thoughts.

The Northside are putting on a show this weekend and the Fitzroy Market is a definitely a main act. This market is in its seventh year of operation so it’s really got its shit together and the friendly vibes alongside the unique stalls really make for a good day out.  There will be all things vintage, second hand, hand made and of course delicious food. Don’t hesitate just get there and go home with some seriously good bargains.

Brunswick is bringing us all the tastes of Peru to one location. The Brunwick Town Hall will be filled with plenty of Peruvian cuisine and music this Saturday. It seems far away but lock this one in peeps it’s looking like it’s going to be pretty GINTASTIC. Four Pillars ambassador Samuel NG will be hosting the night alongside Bohemian Head Chef Gerard Rodriquez and their mix of good drinks and great food is going to be spectacular. Anthony Femia of Maker and Monger is speaking all things cheese in his latest venture (duh). He will be hosting a cheese workshop called ‘Behind The Rind” where he will give you the 101 on cheeses, four types in particular.  You will also learn how to construct the perfect cheese board (goals) and experiment with different cheesey flavours. American Honey Pop-Up At Baxter’s Lot

If you’re all about the American Honey, then you’ll be all over the pop-up that’s happening at Baxter’s Lot this month. As expected, they’ll be serving up some of their best mixed drinks, like the American Honey dry and lime. On Sunday 13 August, they’ll be going all out with live entertainment, including singer-songwriter Naomi Campbell (5pm – 7pm), Tejo Cruz (7pm – 9pm) and Liam Bowditch (9pm – late). Obviously, this is the only way to spend your Sunday, so definitely head down.
