Is everyone back from Europe yet? For those of us braving the Melbourne winter, this week is all about tasting delicious local food and wine, and treating yourself to new experiences. Unless you buy tickets to secret location venues on the regular, then this week is just another day at the office for you.

As always, here are five awesome things to do in Melbourne this week.

You have definitely never experienced the Melbourne Museum like this before. This week a special dance performance by Phillip Adams BalletLab, one of Australia’s largest influencers to Australian dance and performance culture is seeing the Melbourne Museum transformed into a stage for creative and aerobic arts. Whether or not you’re a dance or performance enthusiast, this is an experience you need under your belt. There will also be a light breakfast included.

Well, you’re invited to a one-of-a-kind champagne masterclass hosted by none other than The Champagne Dame herself, Kyla Kirkpatrick. You’ll be in for an indulgent evening where you’ll delve into the world of champagne and talk all things about the unique Champagne region. Not only will you be sipping on some of the finest bubbles, you’ll be nibbling on delicious cheese too.

After 7 years and over one hundred shows popping up in some of Melbourne's best locations, they’re exploring locations further out of the CBD to bring us something fresh and exciting. This one is currently very under wraps and there’s only one way to find out more. You know you want to.

Ned Kelly Musical

We’ve all heard the iconic tale of the legend that is Ned Kelly – most likely from a storybook read to you by your teacher in grade two. For one night only this week, you have the chance to hear his story told like never before. You'll get to know Ned as more than just an outlaw and as a boy who grew up too quickly and died too young. The performance features an amazing cast and exquisite orchestra combining over 50 performers. It’s definitely one not to miss.

Where: National Theatre Melbourne, 20 Carlisle Street, St Kilda
When: 7.30pm

Talk and Taste Session

Keen to support your local drink producers and have a bev or two while you’re at it? That's what Talk and Taste are all about. At their monthly series of intimate and informative sessions, you can learn about the whole production process from vineyard, to distillery, to brewery and finally to your glass. This week the session features Richard Seymour from Mount Zero Olives. You’ll learn all about their products and yes, enjoy their mind-blowing olives in an epic three course line-up of share plates—of course paired with wine. Did we mention Pilgrim Bar has some of the best views of the Yarra?

Where: Pilgrim Bar, Vaults 15-19 Federation Wharf Fed Square
When: 6.30pm, Thursday 20th July

Got more time up your sleeve? This calls for homemade cocktails and we've got an espresso martini recipe you need to try.
