We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again—no good meal is complete without dessert! Whether it’s a little sugary something or a more decadent creation, there’s nothing like a sweet treat as a finishing touch.

With that in mind, we took it upon ourselves to eat our way through the best desserts in Melbourne so that you’ve got a hitlist of things to try for the month ahead.

Our dentist won’t be happy when they hear about the sheer amount of sugar we consumed this month, but to hell with it, we’re more concerned with bringing you Melbourne’s best desserts!

Coconut Layer Cake at Jinda Thai


There’s nothing we love more than a moreish layer cake and Jinda Thai in Abbotsford does one of the finest! Their version combines the luscious flavours of coconut with a light fluffy texture—so very addictive.

White Chocolate Cheesecake at Vapiano

Fact #1—we love chocolate. Fact #2—we love cheesecake. So when we tried the white chocolate cheesecakes, served with salted caramel and honeycomb at Melbourne Italian restaurant, Vapiano, it was like all our dreams had come true! Not only is this one of the best desserts in town, it’s also one of the best value—a mere $5.90 per jar!

Strawberry, Lychee, and Goats Curd at Saint Crispin


Saint Crispin, can you do no wrong?! We think not, Listers, especially when the Saint Crispin team dish up desserts such as strawberry, lychee and goats curd with sumac and caramelised white chocolate (drooool!). Best you take your #foodporn snaps quick because once this dessert hits the table, it won’t last for long!

Green Tea Cheesecake at Chez Dré

South Melbourne

South Melbourne café and patisserie, Chez Dré, is famous for its sweet treats, so it’s no surprise that they’ve made our list of Melbourne’s best desserts! This month, make it your mission to try their green tea cheesecake—it’s the perfect mix of tart and sugary sweet, with juuust the right amount of creaminess thrown in for good measure.

Chocolate Filled Doughnuts at Mr Miyagi


If Mr Miyagi says to try his chocolate-filled doughnuts, who the heck are we to argue? Boy oh boy, we're glad we did, cos these decadent balls of deliciousness are one of the best desserts we've tried in a long, long time. Putting other doughnuts to shame, Mr Miyagi's version needs to be on your hitlist.

Dulce de Leche at Simply Spanish

Melbourne CBD, Queen Vic Market & South Melbourne

When it comes to tapas in Melbourne, few do it quite like Simply Spanish! With outposts on Bourke Street, at Queen Vic and South Melbourne markets, Simply Spanish are beloved for their insanely delicious share plates, sangria and desserts. Don't even think about leaving without trying the Dulce de Leche—a super sweet caramel creation that'll have you fending off your table mates. 

Passionfruit Souffle at GG Restaurant

East Melbourne

Last but not least on our roundup of Melbourne's best desserts this month is GG Restaurant's lip-smacking passionfruit soufflé. Light in texture and tangy in taste, GG's passionfruit soufflé also comes with raspberry sorbet and a decadent dark chocolate sauce. Arguable the best dessert soufflé out there!
